The Fool and the Heretic is a deeply personal story told by two respected scientists who hold opposing views on the topic of origins, share a common faith in Jesus Christ, and began a sometimes-painful journey to explore how they can remain in Christian fellowship when each thinks the other is harming the church. To some in the church, anyone who accepts the theory of evolution has rejected biblical teaching and is therefore thought of as a heretic. To many outside the church as well as a growing number of evangelicals, anyone who accepts the view that God created the earth in six days a few thousand years ago must be poorly educated and ignorant--a fool. Todd Wood and Darrel Falk know what it's like to be thought of, respectively, as a fool and a heretic. This audiobook shares their pain in wearing those labels, but more important, provides a model for how faithful Christians can hold opposing views on deeply divisive issues yet grow deeper in their relationship to each other and to God.

The Creationist maintained that it was God's word! 5500 years of Creation and Christians changed their minds because of Atheist science against them. When did the Atheist become God? When Christians follow Atheism, they too will become Atheists. Look at our world! When did the Catholic Church break away from the Old Testament? The New Testament follows Christ, the Old Testament follows his father. Over 2000 uses of the word Day in the Bible but only gets stretched from a day to millions of years in Genesis. That's a stretch in anyones world! There is real science in Creation, but like Bill Nye's argument about anything Creation...'No'. No reason for that answer, just 'No'.

The Evolutionist maintained that he was right...is God's word a story?

I quite enjoyed the alternation of narrators for the different authors! The modeling of brotherhood in Christ through conflict is a blessing!

modeled well

The conflict is never resolved in this book, but the two scientists do work hard at loving each other. A good example for us all.

Very thoughtful
