Story
Like the old saying goes, I’m a jill of all trades but a master of none. What I lack in skill, however, I make up for in enthusiasm - something certain people (ahem) find irritating. But I have my reasons for living my life the way I do, for diving into one project after another and trying to make a difference. And if Mark Beckett doesn’t like it, he knows where to find the door. I don’t need his approval...or his panty-melting kisses.

Story
CEO millionaire Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny. Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past. But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high-maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no. And when Max locks eyes on the 20-something in a tie-dye sweat suit who pitches the idea of daydreaming all summer—he prepares to give this bad nanny the boot.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

The last person on earth I want to be stranded with is Gianni Lupo. But, thanks to the blizzard of the century, I’m trapped in a roadside motel room with that cocky bastard for two straight days, and with one small bed. Some women might thank Mother Nature for delivering a polar vortex that maroons them with six feet of solid muscle, those deep blue eyes, that sexy grin - but not me. I’ve known Gianni Lupo all my life, and he’s never brought me anything but bad luck, and trouble. I should have known what the disastrous end result would be.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

I never should have gone commando in that dress. I'm almost positive the rest of it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been dangling off a hotel balcony. And of course the one person to witness my mortification had to be him. Camden Cox. Sure, today he's gorgeous and wealthy, and fine, I can admit he has a great sense of humor. But once upon a time, he was the boy who loved to make my life miserable. But I'm Sophie Abbott, and if there's one thing I'm good at, it's making a mess. Only this is a disaster. Because after a wild night in Vegas, I'm pretty sure we got married.

No matter what, keep contact with my cheating ex-wife to a minimum, and turn Maxwell Wineries into a legacy that keeps Paisley set for life. Publisher's Summary
My life is a friggin’ fairytale - just not the kind any single girl would ever want to star in.
Laney
Like any good heroine, I have challenges to face. Getting my son to wear pants is one; dealing with my snooze-fest of a job is another. Then there’s the Beast, my freeloading brother who’s worn a permanent dent in the couch at my new place. And no fairytale would be complete without a smoking-hot prince, of course. Too bad he’s a complete ass.
My instincts scream at me to steer clear of Nate Murphy. Because, if life has taught me anything, there is no such thing as "happily ever after".
Nate
I may not be a superhero, but I do my best to come to the rescue when I’m needed. And, hey, I just moved halfway across the country after a single phone call from my mom. But being back home and taking on the responsibilities involved makes me a bit cranky at times. Unfortunately, the one time I completely lose my cool is in front of the hottest girl I’ve ever met. I’ve got my work cut out for me if I’m going to fix this. But I will fix this. I’ll be anything Laney Monroe needs me to be...a superhero, a prince, or just a guy she might take a chance on.

Hilarious, sweet, steamy listen!
Laney and Nate are adorable. Neither of them expects to meet someone who fills the empty spaces in their hearts.
Nate is charmed by her spunk, her child, her odd tendencies and her curves. She is drawn to him and discovers he's a hot guy who is grumbly but sweet and so caring. They're both on unfamiliar territory. I love his plan to work his way into her life. Their families add to it. Loved it all.
I enjoyed the narrator although I think the story would have benefited from a male narrator.

Some tongue in cheek , some laugh out loud belly laughs, but full on entertaining! I liked Laney, but she had many shrewish moments and I feel she was too harsh with Gavin. He lost a career, and she didn't have empathy. Face facts,
she blatantly screwed up by getting knocked up with acone night stand, so who is the real idiot!!! Pot meet kettle, Laney!!!!! Shut your big mouth girl. Nate was very kind. giving, and honest and I liked that. Rocco got on my nerves at times between the lisp and no one correcting him and making him sleep in his own bed- parenting 101.
Kaney was far from correct or perfect , but she kept hammering at Gavin. I loved the narrator's accent, voice and expressions, and they added to my enjoyment of this story. Laney needs a muzzle and some shock therapy!!

Love the story, Narrator is a great Laney
Love Laney and Nate's love story and the narrator does great with bringing Laney to life. I earned my Marathon badge listening - didn't want to pause! - and laughed out loud especially at little Rocco! I would've loved a male voice to bring Nate to life but overall, Sylvie's words sound great in any octave.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Carolina Connections series and is written by Sylvie Stewart and narrated by Alice Wander. I loved Laney and Nate’s romance and it was so funny. I listened to it in one sitting. The narrator did a fabulous job with the characters and had me giggling out loud several times. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book by this great author and narrator.

A southern comedy. Lot's of swearing and some hot scenes comprise this zany slice of life as a single mother. The characters are great and their quirky idiosyncrasies present and accounted for.
Warning: Reading in public could cause alarm when you smile hugely and sudden bursts of laughter erupt.
Alice Wander is terrific. Adding even a little singing to the story.

CUTE AS A CAROLINA ACCENT
THE FIX is the first book in the Carolina Connections series. Though each is intended to stand alone, they will be better enjoyed as a continuing series in the order of release.
Laugh-out-loud funny, but down to earth real as well. This is a story about how real people meet and interact. How they argue, banter, tease, and love.
The writing is upbeat and romantic. This is not looking for high drama, even while looking at home safety, single motherhood, family commitments, and love in all of its forms (family, friends, and lovers). This is the author’s first book, and I am looking forward to seeing her grow in her career.
Narration: I’ve lived in North Carolina and South Carolina. Alice Wander sounds just like my old neighbors!
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

quirky and amazing!
Laney and Nate are fantastic. It’s cute, and quirky, slightly relatable (ok maybe a little more than slightly), and filled with really funny random moments sprinkled throughout. I would high recommend this book to pretty much anybody over the age of seventeen. I would even suggest it to my mother-in-law, and that’s not a common factor in the stories I usually read. This book is amazing, and I am really anxious and super excited to move onto book two.

Fun as an audiobook
I had previously read this book electronically, but I liked it a lot better as an audiobook. It was a lot more fun.
The narration was great, but a few of the voices seemed like strange choices. It would also have been nice to have dual narration.
Overall, I'd recommend this series. The fix is a standalone with no cliffhanger and you could stop with this one, but you shouldn't.

A sweet and funny story...
Laney and Nate meet under not so conventional circumstances... Nate, having had a crappy start to the morning already, ending up taking it out on others, including Laney. He quickly made things up with her and a very sweet relation was born...
No angst, just feels... So a good listen if you need a pick me up!
Narration was good but I did struggle to keep up at times because some of the character voices blended into the same...

sweet romcom
This was a sweet southern romance which I did enjoy. Nothing awfully steamy just a slow burn love story between Nate and Laney a single mom with a five year old son. It was funny in parts and I liked it overall I received this free but I must say I enjoyed it more on kindle as the narrator didn't get the male parts right in my opinion. I have bought the next one in the series as I liked the side character's and look forward to reading the rest.

just the description had me laughing
This is a laugh out loud kind of romcom. Laney's life is not a fairytale by any means. It could even be a nightmare to some. But Laney lives it with pride. I loved Laney. She is a strong woman who would do anything for her son, and even family. Laney is easy to relate to, her life is real, or at least could be. Nate is just as loyal to family and is the one who wants to fix everything. Until he lets Laney see him at his worst, first. Nate spends his time trying to fix that first impression. The banter between Mate and Laney is so fun. This is a light romance with a lot of laughs and so much fun. It is a great introduction to this series and I cannot wait to read the next one.
Alive Wander had a great performance. I loved how she narrated Laney. Alice really brought out the best, and worst of Laney and made her realistic. Alice has an easy to listen to voice. Her male character voice was smooth and natural. She was easy to follow and read at a great pace. I look forward to hearing more from Alice Wander.

Fun start to the series
This was a fun introduction to the Carolina Connections. Admittedly, I've read some of the later books in the series (all of these are standalone romances) so it's fun to see recurring characters prior to their eventual match ups. In this book, Laney meets Nate when she joins a friend to "protest" a new build site that Nate is working on. Sparks are inevitable and Nate is actually a sweetheart. I liked the supporting characters like Mark and Fiona (whose book is up next) and I kind of liked and simultaneously disliked her brother, Gavin. Her son, with his intricacies, was a cute addition too. Overall, a really fun romance.
Besides owning the ebook, I requested and received the audiobook and I liked it. Alice Wander had a really fitting accent and it was fun to listen to her. Her male voice sounded shaky and a bit unbelievable but she did a great job switching between all the characters overall. Since there was a dual POV, I think having both a male and female narrator would have been best.

Laney and Nate!
Laney’s plans for the future changed when she finds herself pregnant after enjoying a college party a little too much. Although her life isn’t what she pictured however she wouldn’t change a thing as it resulted in her five year old son Rocco who is the light of her life
After Nate’s father suffered a heart attack he finds himself back to his hometown earlier than he planned to manage the family construction business.
They don’t get off to the best start as not only is her brother working for him, but she wants information that he isn’t prepared to give about a site that he is renovating in her neighborhood and the sparks fly.
Nate and Laney are great characters but the great cast of secondary characters, including her son Rocco, really add to the story. Heat, humor and heart all combine into an entertaining story. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought that the narrator did a great job with the variety of voices that she had to portray.

Loved the story
This was a fabulous enjoyable story , very engaging with humour and romance. Loved little Rocky, and the relationship between Laney and her brother Gavin was enjoyable.
To be honest I ha have mixed feelings about the narration. It is done solely as a female, previous ones I'd listened too bad separate male and female for the characters. It just meant on a couple of occasions if I wasn't concentrating I got mixed up about whether I was listening to Laney or Nates part. Some of the narration was a bit unclear at times, however that could just be me not being used to a US accent, but other times the narrator seemed to portray the different parts well.

Nice Story, Well Narrated Despite No Male Lead
The male perspective was used by the author in this sweet story about a single mum. But Alice Wonder narrated the male and female perspectives. Along with all the characters in the story, and she did a great job with them all, we had to listen to her narrate both leads. It was disappointing and, in my opinion, spoiled the listening experience. Bad choice not to hire a male voice. The author should choose to leave out the male perspective, or have a male read it.
