Publisher's Summary

One conversation is all it takes to break a world wide open. Seventeen-year-old Macy Lyons has been through something no one should ever have to experience. And she's dealt with it entirely alone. On the outside, she's got it pretty good. Her family's well off, she's dating the cute boy next door, she has plenty of friends, and although she long ago wrote her mother off as a superficial gym rat, she's thankful to have allies in her loving, laid-back dad and her younger brother.

But a conversation with a boy at a party one night shakes Macy out of the carefully maintained complacency that has defined her life so far. The boy is Sebastian Ruiz, a recovering addict who recognizes that Macy is hardened by dark secrets. And as Macy falls for Sebastian, she realizes that while revealing her secret could ruin her seemingly perfect family, keeping silent might just destroy her.

The Fix follows two good-hearted teenagers coming to terms with the cards they were dealt. It's also about the fixes we rely on to cope with our most shameful secrets and the hope and fear that comes with meeting someone who challenges us to come clean.

This book felt familiar, like Iheard it before

I like the theme of the book with the teenage angst and the sexual abuse by a family member. This is an issue that gets buried in many families.

Too dark

I’m sorry but this story is just too sad and too dark for me. I was kinda waiting/hoping for things to get better or for there to be some revelation as it progressed but half way through I just couldn’t listen to this anymore. I would not recommend if you are sensitive to sexual assault. It was just really hard for me to listen to her describe sex, the partying and just everything, especially at the tender age of 15-17.

Heartbreaking

This is a heartbreaking listen. I enjoyed the characters and the story very much. I do think it ended a little abruptly and things didn't really get settled but it is worth the listen. The narration is done ok.

The accent the narrator makes

I cringed at how the narrator made Sebastian speak. Had to turn it off and remove from my library immediately lol.

Very well written.

The storyline had a great flow and was written very well. Narration was flawless. Characters were introduced in a way that was very easy to understand & follow as well as easy to distinctively tell apart (voice wise).
The only reason why I put four stars in overall was due to wishing the story had been a little bit longer with a little bit more conclusion to what happens to “the bad guy” (trying not to spoil) maybe that was because I enjoyed it so much.
I will definitely recommend this book to others who listen on this platform. ☺️👍🏼

Tough Topic

Without revealing the story, I thought the book very brave and bold to address this sensitive and traumatic topic. I usually skip through books quickly when the characters are in high school due to my age but I am glad I stuck to this one. I hope this book can reach many people affected by similar situations. I did feel that the book ended abruptly and it did not explore the outlying characters of the family. But I do prefer series so I can see all the characters unfold.

Satisfying

Really good coming of age story. One of the better books on audible plus.

My only complaint is that the narrator got a bit too excited during moments that could have been toned down, but it's a personal preference.
