Adrienne King is excellent!!!

Not surprisingly, this is a great story from Grady Hendrix -- inventive, funny, moving, and terrifying.

And Adrienne King (the final girl from Friday the 13th, killed at the very beginning of Part 2) knocks it out of the park as the narrator!

Oh Adrienne

I REALLY wanted to enjoy Adrienne’s narration because I absolutely love her, but this is not her thing. I felt like I was listening to a kindergarten teacher reading me a book. I even sped it up to 1.3 times and it still wasn’t less than a bowl for me. I really like this author, but I think I’m going to have to read this one instead. I had to return it.

Slasher horror with a social commentary

This novel is amazing…as a fan of horror and a feminist, this book combines both! An engaging read and compelling plot!

Speed it up

If you speed it up to 1.8 you can still fully understand the narrator and her voice is tolerable.

Like many Hendrix books you will love it or hate it. It’s pretty darn good! I’d rank it up there with Southern Book Club. It’s better than Horrorstor and Best Friends Exorcism.

Story great but the narrator was awful

Not sure why this narrator was chosen. Her phrasing was weird - it was as if she hadn't read the book ahead of time to consider the sentence flow, so there were weird breaks that don't occur when the narration is thought through. It felt choppy and the emphasis was often odd.
