Publisher's Summary

Two rival families. One East End.

The explosive first novel in the Mitchells and O'Haras trilogy.

For more than a decade, two East End families have been locked in a bitter war.

On one side are the Mitchells, a notorious underworld mob from East London's Canning Town. They have an iron in every fire and will resort to intimidation and violence to get what they want.

On the other side are the O'Haras. The Mitchells' biggest rivals are a travelling family who live in nearby Stratford. They compete with the Mitchells for pub protection, and the two families hate each other.

Caught between these two families at war are two innocent children who will grow up to love the wrong people and spark the last terrible act in the long-running feud.

Brilliant

In starting this book I originally felt it was going to be very predictable and almost a typical gang land story. It certainly wasn't with many a twist and turn along the way.

Brilliantly narrated by Annie Aldington, I can't wait to begin the second part of the trilogy !

Fantastic as usual

What can I say? Another gripping book that has you hooked. If you like suspense, crime, thriller etc the whole series of the Mitchells and the OHara's will have you gripped. Plus Annie Aldington Reading it adds that extra something. If you could give more than the maximum 5 Stars I really would. Kimberley Chambers as an author is bloody fantastic. Once again thank you. Must have most of these books know.
Thank you Kimberley, Annie and Audible 👍😄

Thrilling

This book is about the ongoing feud between the Mitchells & the O’Hara’s I was hooked from the start. I have read The trilogy of the Butlers and wanted to read this trilogy before I read “Backstabber” so I get a more rounded view of the Mitchells. Kimberley Chambers gives you nuggets of information in all her books about past books and characters but this fills things in nicely, another reader suggested to do so and you get to know the characters better.

So much happens in this book that sets up book two, the main Character Eddie Mitchell is the youngest child of Harry Mitchell but he has the same ways as his Dad and has what it takes to look after their empire, mainly acting as loan sharks and punishers. The older brothers are less than pleased but have to accept that Eddie is the boss. Fate intervenes and Eddie has to deal with the fall out.

The other side of Eddie meets a young girl quite a bit younger than himself but she is the girl for him and vice versa. Her family well her Dad sums him up quickly as a villain but tolerates him. Her Mum who is bitter and twisted is seduced by the life Eddie can give her daughter and goes all out for them as a Couple. So many twists and turns, murders etc I found myself spinning. The very end of the book is heartbreaking and sets the next book up, I am waiting for answers, I cannot wait.
