Yet even though Cabal has risked such peril believing he understands the dangers he faces, he is still underestimating them. He is walking into a trap of such arcane complexity that even the one who drew him there has no idea of its true terrors. As it closes slowly and subtly around them, it may be that there will be no survivors at all.

I wish there were more. I have listened to this at least 4 times and it still delights.

More devilish charm

I really love the Cabal books and Horst plays off of Johannes' character really well. I feel like this was one of the best in the series. I wish I'd known about the print books before listening to this so I could fully appreciate Zarennya, whom I adore. While the series had to end eventually, I think it left off on a great note.

Looking Forward to More

I am amazed at the talent of the author and the skill of the narrator. Exceedingly well done.

Pretty fantastic series

I was only sad to see it end. Will definitely be picking up the short stories next.

Engaging

This is the 5th Cabal novel I have listened to, so it's clear that I must like the stories. I really love the characters, the wit and sarcasm. I found this book a little more difficult to follow than those previous and had to repeat some sections to be sure I hadn't missed anything. I hope there will be more Cabal installments. My only criticism is
the voicing of Horst in this recording. Johannes has a slightly Germanic accent, yet Horst his brother who presumably grew up in the same house sounds as if he were raised in the by Eliza Doolittle. very odd.
