I loved everything about this volume. There were some amazing character developments for all characters, especially Maya and Menou. The pacing again feels natural; the battle scenes never feel like they take up too much time. And, when they commence, they feel exhilarating.
As always, there are questions and mysteries abound for the world and characters. The few callbacks to Akari—and even the one “glimpse” of her at the end—tugged at my heart strings. It warms my heart that Akari remains the focus of Menou’s journey, even after all that befell them in the previous chapter. I despise when characters are simply forgotten or neglected just because they’re not on screen anymore.
The story continues to take care of its characters, plot, and world building. It seriously feels like it gets better with every passing volume.
Kudos to the author and narrator for doing a superb job. I cannot thank them enough.
If I had one “complaint”, it would be the short time skip. Not the time-skip itself, but recollecting the events between that time; how it skims over everything that happened during that period. Such as how Menou and the gang, alongside Princess Ashuna, rallied control over Grisarika kingdom. I had many questions such as:
“What was Ashuna’s reaction to the events regarding the Holy Land?”
“How long did it take Menou’s party to reach Grisarika kingdom?”
“What else happened while they were in Grisarika?”
Just little details like this, I wonder. But I understand the author probably wants to move the plot forward. Not the end if the world if various things were skimmed over between the time-skip. Plus, things could be further explained in the next volume more or less.
Besides that, the story grows stronger. I love that the focal point of the story now, officially, is Menou and Akari’s relationship.
