Publisher's summary

A werewolf without rank or hope and an enforcer who has lived too long go up against the selkie mob.

Charming urban fantasy from New York Times best-selling comedy author Gail Carriger. Narrated by Kirt Graves.

Enforcer

Judd has wandered from pack to pack his whole life, searching for wolves who will accept him for who he is and who he loves. Now he believes that he's finally found the right pack and the right man.

Nerd

Rejected by his family for being gay and geeky, Colin has never fit in with werewolves, yet now he is one. He doesn’t know how to react when Judd starts courting him. He’s even more lost when a famous singer, the selkie mob, and the feds also start chasing him.

Can Judd protect Colin and still prove his love? Can Colin figure out why enemy shifters are invading his favorite cafe? And what's with all the gold sparkle? Find out in The Enforcer Enigma.

"I absolutely love, love, love the humor that Gail Carriger incorporates into all of her books.... And who wouldn’t welcome some laughs right now?" (Rally the Readers)

Delicate sensibilities?

This paranormal romance contains M/M sexy times, horrible puns regarding country music, and men who wear suits without shirts underneath. If you get offended easily, then you probably will. The San Andreas Shifter stories include blue language, dirty deeds, and outright admiration for the San Francisco Bay Area. Not for the faint of heart (or mouth or tongue).

Acclaimed author Gail Carriger (writing as G. L. Carriger) brings you the next in her delightful gay werewolf series, perfect for fans of TJ Klune. The San Andreas Shifter books stand alone and do not need to be read in any order, but if you’re a stickler, this story follows The Omega Objection.

A Bit Too Much of an Enigma

I quite enjoy this story even if it is a bit less than the previous installments. I'm generally just not as much of a fan of Colin and Judd and feel like a lot of the interest in who Judd is and where he came from is a little glossed over. It dictates who he is, but it's also very transcendental. I don't really feel like I know who Judd is, but just a very vague idea of what lead him to his present place within the world.

I do enjoy Colin a bit more and Trick is very amusing. But overall I don't think either Colin or Judd can carry the story like either Max, Isaac, or Marvin. Which might be why we have so much Trick in the story even though it's a romance between Colin and Judd.

Still, I like the story overall. There are only a few things that really stood out to me in terms of things I disliked. One is that there is just too much internal monologuing on how much both of them want the other forever and being completely depressive over the fact that they think the other doesn't want the same or deserves better. It gets super old after you as the reader knows how they both feel and the lack of communication is frustration. At the very least have Isaac noticing something and encouraging them to open up to each other more, since his whole deal is noticing how the pack dynamic is going. I'm not sure if it would have been better if it was addressed in some way, even if Colin and Judd still took forever about it in the end, but it did stand out.

The second thing was that Instalam and whatever the Youtube equivalent was just came across as really juvenile, like a fanfiction writer who is terrified that they are going to get sued for saying Kleenex, as a brand. You are more than allowed to use Instagram in your writing. And at the very, very least, if you're going to use a fictional pseudonym for the company at least be creative about it. Instagram is Instant and Gram, like a telegram/cablegram/radiogram. Changing one part of the name to a pointless rhyme to indicate it's obviously Instagram but "don't sue me" hurts my soul.

The final thing was the entire Country backdrop. I hated everything about it and find so little point in the portrayal. If you hate Country, as all of the shifters and the author seem to, then I have no idea why so much of it and so many lyrics are actually forced upon the readers. If you like Country, which I do, the absolute garbage that are those lyrics is insulting. Every song comes across as the joke version people make Old Country out to be, while the persona displayed is definitely New Country pop idol. I can't imagine anyone who likes or hates Country music actually enjoyed how much this story portrayed....whatever that was. Lexi Blanc can be designed to be hated, no problem. That's by design. But I cannot comprehend why any of us had to be subjected to "Fangs" so often.

More! More! More!

Ms Carriger has written an amazing array of novels ranging from young adult to… Well, to this series!

In all of her varied works, the author maintains a loving touch that shows how much she cares for both her characters and her readers. The only thing more that I want from her is more of the same!

Love it

I love these books. I love how the plot is always a good ending, and the degree and element of romance is perfection. I look forward to the next book that Gail is planning and can’t wait.

An Absolute Treat!

Between the growing bond of the found family that is the pack, an antagonist you love to hate, the banter, the love, the healing and the laughter, this is another entry in a truly sweet froth of a series. The whipped cream on top is the author's reinvention of many classic supernatural creatures; I love stories that work the beings of tales into your local coffee shop and community.
And under the shenanigans, Carriger has again given us a wonderful tale of healing, redemption, and the beauty of claiming who you really are.
It's always a pleasure. Oh, and Kirt Graves always does a great job bringing the characters to life! I tend to wait for the audiobook and listen; it's that good.

fun, very steamy, no tea

If you are opposed to erotica or repulsed by the idea of sex between men, you shouldn't get titles from the San Andreas shifters series. If you are more open-minded about "love in all its forms" and enjoy a light romance now and again, you should give them a try. I bought this title because I'm a big fan of the author. As a CIS female, I didn't expect the erotica content to be especially titillating for me, but it turns out that hearing about two hot men's arousal is just twice as good - at least when read by Kirt Graves. While I won't claim that I enjoyed these stories as much as Carriger's other series (Parasol Protectorate, Finishing School, Custard Protocol), these brief glimpses into the modern-day Parasolverse are funny and sweet, as well as steamy.

❤️ So Much Fun

Just a casual shifter romance with low stakes and hilarious antics. Plus I'd listen to anything by Kirt Graves.

More please

I have read and/or listened to everything that Gail Carriger has written and loved every word. I love the humor and creativity of each series and have missed the characters in the Parasol Protectorate, the Finishing School, and The Custard Protocol when the series reached the end. Please let us have many more San Andreas Shifters stories!

This was SO effing good. The character growing into self-love is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read and the sex scenes are just wonderful. Cannot recommend enough and I cannot WAIT for Trick and Kettle!!!!
