Publisher's Summary

In the far future, unbeknownst to humankind, an apocalyptic war is brewing. Fearsome, vengeful Demons rage at the boundaries of the world, held at bay by a spell called the Forbidding. Excellent adventure!

I read this book when I was a kid, and loved it then! I liked it better than the Sword of Shannara. This reading by Scott Brick was just as good as I remember this book, I just had to listen every chance I could. Well read, typical Terry Brooks stock.

Emotional Rollercoaster

This was a spectacular story. Great contrast to the 1st book. Relevant messaging despite being written over 3 decades ago.

good but slow

Not a bad book, but seems to repeat itself in order to be a longer book for more money. overall the reading performance is excellent but just seemed to be a bit long at the beginning.

Another Great Fantasy Tale, Woven By Terry Brooks

This standalone sequel to the wonderful epic, known as "The Sword Of Shannara," is equally wondrous as well as fantastical.

Good vs Evil / Nice Character Development

Well written and narrated, yes Terry drew on the LOTR for his initial offering but quickly found his own voice and style. Very descriptive with respect to setting the scene and personal conflict. My only critique is that he seems to wrap up his books too quickly (i.e 30+ chapters to set the table and then only a couple chapters to tie it all up nicely with a bow) a small issue considering how entertaining his writing is.

Great Continuation of this Storyline

Great story and narration. Did struggle a bit with pronunciation of "Shannara" and "Arethea" as it definitely wasn't how I pronounced them in my mind when previously reading the book. Still the narrator gave each character a clear voice and intensity.

I have read this book several times and the very very end is what earns it 5 stars
