Great Story!

The story was great, however, the narration made it difficult to actually get through the book. The American accent left little to be desired.

The narrator’s speech ruined the story for me

I might have rated this book more highly if the problems with the narrator didn’t affect me the way fingernails scraping a chalkboard does. I’ve enjoyed every book written by Struthers so far, until I listened to this one.

First, she spoke at near super sonic speed. Okay, I’m exaggerating. But this combined with her childish voice made her sound nervous. Maybe she should have been nervous, because the way she mangled the way the American character’s speech was atrocious. Nobody I know of, and I’ve spoken to Americans from all over this country, pronounces the word “bone” like “boo-own.” At times I couldn’t even understand what they were supposed to be saying, it was that bad.

I’ve heard many British narrators do a great job when speaking for American characters - why did they have to choose this one? Honestly, I wouldn’t have chosen her just for the way her childish voice sounded as if she were opening a door to see a bogeyman. That’s two strikes, but they were so egregious I count her out

good story

I enjoyed the story as well as the ending. My only issue was the narrator spoke way too fast! Tried to slow her down but that still didn't sound right. Take a breath in between sentences. Adventualy I got over it but thought it could have been better, read by someone else.

great Thriller

I really like the story and the narrator did a wonderful job narrating it and using different voices

The narrator was good in her native tongue, but she had a very horrible American accent, which distracted from the book

Worst narrator I've ever encountered

I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and this is the most stunningly awful narration I have ever encountered. Heaven knows why the narrator thought she should whisper the entire book and her American accent is laughable. The storyline might be better than the 3 stars I bestowed but it was so hard to listen to so I'm not sure. If you would like to read this book, save your ears, buy a hard copy or the kindle version and do just that.

Truly painful

Imagine if a robot wrote a book and then a second, worse robot read it. And they raised baby robots and grand baby robots, each generation writing robot books and then reading them to an audience of none. Degeneration making each story and subsequent narration dumber and less realistic. If this pattern was repeated for one thousand years the product would still be better than this audio book.

the narration is awful absolutely awful the American accents are very painful to listen to and the character Caroline sounds like a little girl instead of a 33 year old woman

Narrator is so bad

Narrator is so bad I couldn't finish the book, and gave up 2 hours into it because I couldn't take it anymore.

Narrator Was The WORST Choice Possible For This Audiobook..!!

The choice of narrator for a book will either make or break the success of an enjoyable listen... In this case it was without a doubt the most abysmal failure..
She had a little tiny itty bitty little girl voice.. a woman in her 30’s supposedly
of British origin... THEN the story is set in Pennsylvania, where she proceeds to attempt American accents for 12 characters... all with the most HORRIBLE conglomeration of country
backwards Hillbilly intonations by way of Arkansas via Georgia..!!
As I said... abysmal failure.. I’m getting my money back on this stinker..!!
