Publisher's summary

Camden Seaver had it easy - a loving family, plenty of money, and the freedom to follow his dreams while his older brother, Sebastian, took charge of the family business. But when a tragic plane crash killed his parents, all the responsibilities he never wanted landed firmly on his shoulders. Now saddled with his crazy, grief-stricken brother and his dad’s multimillion dollar company, Cam doesn’t trust in dreams anymore. He’s forgotten what “easy” feels like.

FBI Agent Kendrick “Cort” Cortland learned the hard way that he couldn’t depend on anyone but himself. Before joining the FBI, the one constant in his life was his foster brother, Damon - and then Damon disappeared. Now, Cort is determined to find his brother and to bring down the man responsible for ruining Damon’s life, Sebastian Seaver. He’s got nothing left to lose.

When Cort’s investigation leads him to Seaver Tech...and Camden Seaver...what started as a quest for revenge and a one-night deception quickly turns into far more than either man bargained for. But how can either man trust in something that seems so easy? As long-held secrets are revealed, the attraction between Cam and Cort becomes combustible - an undeniable love that will either make or destroy them. Will Cam and Cort let their conflicting loyalties drive them apart? Or will they decide that sometimes love is the easy way?

Easy Like Sunday Morning!

I've read the book before and most of the books I've read, the audio version makes everything better.
The story becomes enhanced by Michael's narration. The banter more alive. The mystery more riveting. And the steam!! HOT!
The chemistry more palpable even if there were some secrets. All in all, an enjoyable listen.

Suspenseful, sexy ride

I enjoyed this one - I was definitely held in suspense, so much suspense that when I had about an hour left of the audio, I switched to print, because I knew I wouldn't have a chance to listen again for awhile & I absolutely HAD to know what was going to happen. I then got so sucked in that I read the preview for the next book that came up in the print. So yeah, I'm totally invested in this story.
I enjoyed all the characters, right down to minor characters, good & bad, and some showed more depth & unpredictability than I'd expected at the start. There's a great deal of humor to it & sweetness, so I laughed & smiled. One bit even had me tearing up. I had a feeling I knew the identity of the villain(s), but I definitely couldn't predict what was coming, even when I thought I knew.
I'm sure some could find flaws, such as lack-of-communication issues that are some people's pet peeves, but in this case, it made sense to me, particularly from Cort's side of things. There is a sort of insta-love to it, but since they did spend a LOT of concentrated time together, I think their feelings could intensify quickly. There's a LOT of sex, which some like & some don't - I didn't mind at all; it was pretty damn hot to me, quite honestly.
My only caveat with the book itself that I didn't fully understand certain aspects with regard to the mystery part of the story - I feel like it really needed to be better explained & dealt with. I read the first chapter of the next book & I feel much the same, but there is definitely a continuation of this aspect of the story in the next book, so I feel that there is definitely more to be revealed.
So far as the narration, it was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was one of Michael Dean's best - it's 3rd person dual POV and at one point, he mixed up a character name at the start of one chapter, so for a bit, I was confused about whose head I was inside. He mispronounced a few words and a couple times, he had a fast-paced intensity going when I think he should've slowed down, like he hadn't given parts of scenes enough transition. These were very brief slips that didn't detract from the story & a lot of the narration was really quite good.
Over all, I did enjoy this book & I'm totally going to dive into the next one.

The not so easy way

This was good,I'm actually listening to the second one now. Cort might have went after cam with one intention, but it ended so much better than what he meant to do. Perfect story and narration.

Excellent mystery!!

I really enjoyed this start of the series. Usually with a mystery I can figure out pretty quick who is behind it but I have to be honest I was wrong on this one which for me makes it an awesome book! I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Camden and Cort build and even though there were some lies told by Cort in the beginning they made sense for this storyline. These two definitely have all the chemistry they need and the snark in this book is wonderful. The narration was very well done and I look forward to the next book in this series!

Complications galore

Whew! Talk about hurdles to overcome to be together, Cam and Cort have them in spades. Family tragedy forces Cam to assume control of the family business, Cort is on a personal mission to track down the person responsible for causing trauma in his family. When their paths intersect sparks of all kinds fly. I can't give many details or the story would be ruined for you, but trust me, you want to invest your time in these guys and this maze-like plot. Both men are strong but hurting and the initial lies are almost enough to sink any chance they have. It was a joy to listen to the always amazing Michael Dean bring these two complicated men to life.

great story

The Easy Way is the first book in The Way Home series by May Archer. It is a contemporary m/m romance with suspense and a bit drama. Camden and Cort are great characters and I enjoyed their story.

The story's Narrator is Michael Dean. Fantastic and clear voicework and recording. Very enjoyable.

I liked the narration by Michael Dean

I liked the narration by Michael Dean. This is actually one book that I wish I would of heard the audible first. Separate voices came through better it seemed to me.

Cort had no one he could trust but his foster brother Damon. When Damon dies in a plane crash Cort vows to find the reason his brother is dead. He sacrifices his FBI career to that goal when he finds out his brother is alive and in hiding.

Cam parents died in the same plane crash. He takes over as president of Seaver Tech even though it was supposed to go to his brother Sebastian. His duties included a gala where he meets Cort.

Cort found the enticing connection with Cam overwhelming. He forgot this mans brother was the reason his was gone. When he forces Cam to get him to the island where he thought his brother was he regretted it but it he still had to do it.

I really enjoyed Cam and Cort. I did think Cam forgave Cort to easily (more than once). Every deception seemed to bring them closer. This story had angst, intrigue, unusual places for sexy times, an insta/love/connection, plenty of snark, and two men who really enjoy playing games. I really liked the swimming pool.

I like this author and will be reading more of her books.

Hot AF. Light-hearted. Uncomplicated.

I enjoyed listening to this fast paced, whodunit mystery, insta-lust, insta-love, feel good, MM romance with a HFN/HEA ending. I particularly liked the snarky banter and tongue in cheek dialogues. And even , when I figured out , right away, who was/were villain/villains , of the story, it still kept my attention until the end.

Hotness index: High
Sweetness meter: High
Angst levels: Low
Drama levels: Medium low
Will re-listen: Probably yes
Recommend: Yes

Michael Dean narration was engaging , entertaining and exuberant. His portrayal of Cam and Cort was on point.

A fabulous story!

Oh, I really liked this story! The storyline is fantastic, the mystery about the plane accident is so very well done!

I love the way the relationship between Camden and Cort evolves, slowly, going back and forth due the secrets Cort is keeping until he is unable to sustain the silence and all the truth comes out in the open.

They are both complex, interesting characters. You might want to scream at them from time to time but can't help to understand why they are acting as they do. And the fraternal love between Cort and Damon and Camden and Baz is a great motivation and point of understanding between them.

The dynamic between the two MC is also great. I love that they are in equal footing, and how to show vulnerability and trust each other is a conscient decision.

I'm looking forward to the next books in this series.

Michael Dean does a better job here than in other books that I had listen with him as narrator, but I still think he is over the top in some scenes, particularly when portraying strong emotions.

Not my favorite from this author

This was an entertaining story, but I kept being pulled out of the story by the things that Cort did that made me think he must not have been a very good FBI agent. I don't think I would have been as forgiving of him as quickly as Cam was. I also didn't always like Cam's choices and actions. But, overall, I did find the story interesting.
The narrator did a very good job. I especially liked his portrayal of Cort.
