I love the humor that is laced throughout the whole story.

I love the way the author writes the story. She makes an obvious ugly be something to shine on, how people can seem ugly but ends up being just a piece of life. (just as good writer as Beatrice Small)

Lovely romance

The idea of an injured disfigured duke and a beautiful new bride is an old story but a good one. I really enjoyed it. The bride had her own backstory but found love in her arranged marriage. He learns to tame his demons and how to trust love.
My only criticism was the voice the narrator used for Lucas. It sounded like an old man of about 90. I thought he must of had an injury to his throat and voice at first, then realized it was supposed to be the normal voice if the husband. It annoyed me throughout the book.
