Publisher's Summary
Strong as a Viking. Handsome as Adonis. Rich as Midas. Collin "Cole" Talmage, Duke of Trewyth, is the stuff that legends are made of. He's the English Empire's golden son - until fate has its way with him. Cole's family is killed and his closest comrade betrays him on the battlefield, leaving him gravely injured. But Cole is not one to dwell on misfortune. He is a man of duty, honor, and desire. And now he's ready for the fight of his lifetime....
Imogen Pritchard is a beautiful lass who works in a hospital by day and as a serving maid at night. Years ago, when she was young and penniless, she ended up spending a scandalous night with Cole, whose tormented soul was matched only by his earth-shattering passion. Imogen entered a marriage of convenience - one that left her a wealthy widow - but she never forgot Cole. Now that her long-lost lover has turned up in her hospital, injured and with no memory of her, Imogen is torn. Is it a blessing or a curse that their past remains a secret to Cole, even as his new passion for her leaves him wanting to protect and possess her at all costs? Contains mature themes.

Sensuous
Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favorite?
Derek Perkins is one of my all time favorite narrators. I can visualize every detail as he performs the story. He has the ability to bring characters voices into focus for each individual person. For this story, Cole was my favorite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did laugh, and hold my breath at various times during the performance. What I liked the least was that the Rook was not disclosed, will this be another book to the series? Or was Jeremy the Rook? It was mentioned that he had dock connections.
Any additional comments?
This has been an excellent series. It has pulled the stories of Dorian, Liam and Christopher together with Cole as one grand book bringing each in to interact with the lead characters of the book and not overly reliving the other stories. I find it annoying in some of the other series I have read for the author to continually repeat how a person fits into the story. There is suspense, desparation and of course delicious love making.

Kerrigan Byrne paints pictures with her prose!!
Oh my. *fans face*...I think Cole and Imogen burned up my Kindle.
From the moment Cole walked into the Bare Kitten and met Ginny I was sucked into this wonderful story.
The Hero, an arrogant and lethal Duke. Who comes across as an ass most of the time. An ass I fell in love with.
The heroine. Imogen. She's street smart and her need to survive and help her family blew me away.
The sex...Kindle melting. I've ordered the paperback for my keeper shelf btw.
I did not want to put this book down.
I was given a copy through email/NetGalley but ended up purchasing the Audio book. Derek Perkins narration is perfection.
This is the first Kerrigan Byrne book I have read and I loved it so much that I bought the rest of the series.
Thank you Kerrigan!! I think I've found another favorite author.

One Great Series...Book 4
Narrator: Derek Perkins does a good job...again.
Liked this one also. Really like Cole in the beginning not so much after he came back.
Imogen & Cole both go through a lot. The emotions felt real. Pretty captivating.
Like when characters from previous books all come to give a hand.
One thing with all 4 books is that the endings do feel kind of rushed.

Kind of distressed
Would you try another book from Kerrigan Byrne and/or Derek Perkins?
Definitely yes. I love Kerrigan Byrne books and Derek Perkins is an excellent narrator. Of course he does great male voices, that's a given, but his female voices are great to.
Would you ever listen to anything by Kerrigan Byrne again?
Yes, most definitely
What does Derek Perkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He gives each character a distinct voice so you can tell who is speaking in a particular scene.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Duke?
Every scene with the arrogant Duke after he wakes up in the hospital. He was a horrible person. He was verbally abusive to "Jenny" Imogen, cruel and selfish at every turn. He publically humiliated her and then at the end he suddenly demands she marry him because he loved her, give me a break. She forgave to easily. She should have kicked him in the junk and walked away. The last few minutes of the book did nothing to redeem the jerk status he had built up throughout 95% of the book.

Good
I liked this listen. Normally, I wouldn't say this about an audio book being too long, but this was. This was a dramatic story . With very few funny scenes. Although I did laugh when Imogen gets drunk. The suspense was good. And Derek Perkins does a great job narrating.

This is a great series; I loved each book! Kerrigan Byrne gives us such interesting characters to spend time with. Book 3, The Highlander, was my favorite, but all were good. Derek Perkins is one of my favorite narrators. He really makes a story come alive. I'm always looking for good historical romances narrated by Mr. Perkins.

I Can't Find Anything Redeeming
There's an unpardonable storyline in this book. The Duke was hateful from beginning to end. The writer is an insult to women. Spoilers: Rape! He breaks into her house, she's something he doesn't like, flips out and rapes her tells her it's her fault and she agrees; 2 cops walk in and knowing what has happened they let him walk out the door . Still in shock she gets drugged and kidnapped by a crazy man, and she no sooner opens her eyes and he's back. I buy this stuff for its escapist value. So is everything old new again?

Great series
This is very much in line with the other books in the series with alpha males and angel females, gets a bit samey when heard in succession. However I love how the series is panning out i like how the couple's and characters interact. Dorian is still may fave and the Marquis a close second but this was good.
I really rate this narrator but his Liverpool accent is woeful, although he still keeps his male characters voices definable which is quite a feat.
overall for me not the best of the series but enjoyable nevertheless.

1 brilliant story after another
Loved every second of it. I couldn't stop listening. It's one brilliant story after another. This series is the first I've listened to of Kerrigan Byrne and it will not be the last. Im loving her books she is now one of my favourite authors. As for Derek Perkins he's a brilliant narrator. And a good narrator makes the story even better. Unfortunately a lot of audible narrators are awful and ruin a story completely. But Derek Perkins is definitely one of my favourite narrators. Love his narrating.

Well delivered Kerrigan!
When the author manage to steer loving or hating emotions toward the main characters... it is deemed a success... well done... and Mr Perkins narration truely brings the characters alive...very enjoyable story and audio version is extremely spectacular. I just took one star off the story as I truly hated the hero... all the way even at the sensed rushed end ... I could not see how the heroine forgave him just like that... however it did not take away from the well rounded story especially when bringing back other lovable charecters from the previous series... Thank you Ms Kerrigan.
