Publisher's Summary

The widowed Duchess of Sailer has desires that are hard to fill in polite society. To that effect, she visits a brothel to have her bottom reddened. If word got out, her reputation would be ruined. So, when a member of society is murdered, and her name turns up in the books he is using to blackmail people, the metropolitan police show up on her doorstep. Olivia does the only thing she can to keep her name from being dragged through the mud: she agrees to take the investigator into her life so she can help him find a killer.

Inspector Rupert McKinley expects to get in and out, and figure out who killed Lord Ethan. He doesn't care about Olivia's desires...until he starts to spend time with her, and realizes she's more interesting than he ever expected her to be. When their business relationship turns into a personal one, Rupert is determined to find the murderer before someone else - like Olivia - is killed.

Is Rupert strong enough to protect Olivia? Will she be able to follow Rupert's lead to remain safe, or will he have to lay down the law? Is their personal relationship going to blossom or weaken amidst the danger surrounding them?

Historical, spanking romance mystery

Oh my this was a lot of fun. This is the first time I've read/listened to Lexie Clark it won't be the last. I can't wait for the next part.
The narrator brings it to life, she has a wonderful voice.
This is a definite keeper.

A Very Hot Historical Novel

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

If you are looking for a thrill this book might be for you. However it might also be more than what you expect... I found it a little disturbing at times as violence is not my thing, but the characters are very strong and pleasant. You will like them all the same and the mystery part of the story is in fact excellent. All in all you will enjoy the book and the performance is truly well-done. I liked all of the characters and the interpretation of them by the narrator.
Like I wrote, it might not be a story for everyone, but the writing is good and the performance excellent. So if you are not someone that gets scandalized really easily, then go for it...

Really enjoyed this audio!

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

This was a pleasant surprise, there was some pretty steamy stuff, a mystery and a love story.. What more could a girl want.

Enjoyed the narration, I've had a few of Marie Smith's books and have enjoyed them all.

I'm looking forward to the next one in the series!

Pretty good

Didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Entertaining and kept my interest all the way through. Not a complex story but still good.

A different historical romance.

I liked the story, and I hope there is another one to follow. It would be nice to see Rupert even a little more dominant, and the mystery a bit more complex. Overall it was a fun story.

This is the second time I have listened to this narrator. The narrator does not pronounce contractions correctly. “Din’t instead of didn’t, woun’t instead of wouldn’t, etc. It is annoying. The word “ruffian” was pronounced “roofian;” I have never heard this pronunciation before! There was once the usage of the grammar, “You did good.” This incorrect grammar is heard often these days, but would not have been used in this time period. I do not know if this was the writer or narrator, but shame on whomever it was. Otherwise the narration works fine.

I received this free copy from the author/narrator and voluntarily offered an unbiased review.

Well performed!

I enjoy historical romances from time to time, and thought this book was very well performed. I liked parts of this story and other parts not so much. Typically I do not associate spanking and regency romance. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I thought the author did great with her imagery and details, along with character development.
