At twenty-six, aspiring novelist Avis Copley intends to wear spinsterhood as a badge of honour. But when she discovers a volume of erotica that ignites a searing fire within her, Avis realizes just how much she doesn't know about the actual pleasures of the flesh. Determined to learn more, she devises a daring plan...Avis chooses Emory Billingsworth, a fellow novelist - not to mention a beautiful specimen of manhood - to instruct her in carnal pleasure.
But when the brash earl of Selby, Banning Talbot, a man she has known for years, unearths Avis' true intentions, he claims she's made a dangerously bad choice. Volunteering his services for one wicked night of reckless, abandoned passion, Banning promises he will satisfy all of her deepest longings. Yet, Banning cannot begin to imagine the effect his wilful, voluptuous, and very eager student will have on him - or how far an innocent lesson in desire can go.

However, they've been enemies for years however it only takes one hot passionate kiss to ignite the embers of passion and so Spinster Avis agrees to a two week affair..... but she gets, and receives, much much more than she bargained for. So too does Banning, who needs a wife and thinks Avis would fit the job nicely but Avis, because of a tragic hurtful abusive past, never ever ever wants to marry even despite their sizzling chemistry. Then, as lust quickly turns into love, the eager Student captivates her Tutor, but the conflict begins when he tries to find out just why she keeps saying no to his marriage proposals.
This was a thoroughly entertaining listen that had a great plot, humor, twists, lots of likeable characters, a duel, one Mr. Nasty and one Miss Devious but there's conflicts along with the passion, desire, sex, and character building as Avis and Banning eventually learn to share their secrets in order to move on to the HEA ending that they both deserve and long for.
Worth a credit? It was a touching, tender tale that was descriptive and well-written - what more could you want from a Regency Romance. So YES, in my opinion, a very credit-worthy listen.

THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THE NOVEL:
1) I really enjoyed the first part of the love development between Avis Copley and the Earl of Selby, Banning Talbot which was filled with funny moments, as their love kindled to a fever pitch. I really liked how the two had a long history of antagonism because the teasing and heated debates that marked Avis & Selby's interactions was nothing more than signs of an underlying attraction. I thought it was funny how Avis kept calling Selby a "beast" & he's like, 'can you chill out with the "beast" comments'…haha
2) Even though the friendship between the ladies in the Spinster Club is not as powerful as the connection between Lisa Kleypas's Wallflowers, I enjoyed the close friendship and regard the ladies had for one another. OMG, I could not stop laughing about the "explode" talk Avis received from her fellow virgin friend in helping her prepare for her night of passion.---Classic!
3) I really enjoyed the talent of the narrator, Ashford MacNab. She narrated "Wicked Intentions" by Elizabeth Hoyt which is one of my fav novels & it was nice to revisit her voice for the males & females. I didn't have a problem with her rather flat voicing for Selby. I laughed when Avis's reaction was "dear Lord," when she was having prim and proper reactions to her new experiences in desire.
4) Every Hero/Heroine's struggles to attain their HEA, in this book, Avis is the one who is most opposed to marriage. Selby was so creative and trying to explore all of the possible options to get Avis to marry him & yet had to weather the storm in terms of Avis's fear of marriage. I liked how her fear was not predictable or common place.
THINGS THAT WERE NOT SO GREAT ABOUT THE BOOK:
1) I notice that I tend to be impatient when the problems between the leads centers around MISCOMMUNICATION or LACK OF COMMUNICATION. It just drives me nuts. And, in this case, it was more so Avis who withheld affection and information for most of the book. She used the cloak of modesty to shield the root of the problem which was her fear. I also could not stand how she doubted her hero when he opened up about imminent danger with the "other guy." Selby shared pretty serious stuff with Avis and I would have expected any intelligent, fair-minded woman to exert some caution.
2) The nights of passion were nice, but seemed to lack some emotional depth. Even though there were some nice, truly intimate moments where they read and edited Avis's work in bed, there were many other times when the loves scenes were recapped & the time spent between lovers was rushed.
3) I would have liked for the lovers to enjoy more moments enjoying the love development. I thought that the balance was off in terms of the couple's happy moments as compared to strained moments. The strained moments were frustrating & seemed excessively long.
Overall, good read, but I'm not in a hurry to read the rest of the series…not sure if I ever will.
MAY THE NIGHTS NEVER END!
