Silbrey returns to the port city where she was first taught to kill.

While there, she discovers there is more to her troubling past, something magical and foreboding, far beyond the familiar cobbled streets. Silbrey must decide if she'll take her revenge against the cruel guildmaster who trained her—or is mercy even an option?

What begins as a fairy tale transforms into a sweeping multi-generational epic about love and loss—and a woman with a strange connection to the natural world.

Dynamic characters and a compelling story. Looking forward to the next book. Maybe not my favorite vocal performance but that’s cool.

Great start!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The character and story development clipped along at an enjoyable pace. David Hopkins did an amazing job capturing key moments - whether happy, sad or gruesome - and making them feel visceral. Every character felt like they had purpose. You cheer for the heroes and brace yourself against the villains. The world felt rich and interesting, leaving me wanting to know more. If this story continues, I’ll be there to read, listen and enjoy it.
