Resumen del Editor

“Glorious. A story that will be found and enjoyed and dreamed about for years to come.” (Neil Gaiman)

A stunning modern-day Dickensian fable and a celebration of friendship and bravery for freethinkers everywhere.

It all starts on the morning the letter D disappears from language. First, it vanishes from Dhikilo’s parents’ conversation at breakfast, then from the road signs outside and from her school dinners. Soon the local dentist and the neighbor’s dalmatian are missing, and even the Donkey Derby has been called off.

Though she doesn’t know why, Dhikilo is summoned to the home of her old history teacher Professor Dodderfield and his faithful Labrador, Nelly Robinson. And this is where our story begins.

Set between England and the wintry land of Liminus, a world enslaved by the monstrous Gamp and populated by fearsome, enchanting creatures, D (A Tale of Two Worlds) is told with simple beauty and warmth. Its celebration of moral courage and freethinking is a powerful reminder of our human capacity for strength, hope, and justice.

Too much time spent on boring details

The narration was the only thing I loved about this story. I wanted to really like the story because the premise started out pretty good. But the story spends way too much time on very boring details. Details that weren't relevant to the story. The only reason the overall rating is a three for me is because the narrator was fabulous.

Reminiscent of one of my childhood favorites

When I was a kid growing up, one of my favorite books was called The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Dikilo’s journey reminds me very much of Milo’s travels to the Lands Beyond.

Highly enjoyable!

book for kids, missed opportunity

this is a kid's book.
this was A great opportunity for an amazing story but it fell very short. it was a story missing any kind of actual writing skills and the story was vanilla. I'm very disappointed. I also wish I knew this was a book for children

Wonderfully weird but unexciting

Michael at his best with the weird but ultimately i just didn’t care about the characters, the world or the quest.

Bad Wizard of Oz

A book where things happen with a very poor overarching plot. It's a good example of how not to write a third act.

Disappointing

Expected more from Mr. Faber. This book for (very) young adults is standard fare, except perhaps for the clever premise of stolen letters. The quest is rather underwhelming in the end, with quite a few loose ends left unresolved. Should have skipped this one but it was mercifully short.
