Soon Mary is fed a hearty meal, dressed in a clean, new nightgown, and shown to a soft bed with blankets piled high. She can hardly believe she isn't dreaming!

But when Mary begins to explore the strange town nearby, she learns a terrifying secret about Madame Z's identity. If Mary is not careful, her new home might just turn into a nightmare.

great book!

this is one of the best books I have ever read!maybe a little scary for little kiddos but but great for every body over 8. hope you enjoy this book !!!

Coming of Age Enjoyment

This is an entertaining story about being adopted by a witch. Is that good, bad, or scary. The author creates a new world of different magics very readily. A great listen.

Very creative tale

I listened to this book with my kids partly because we have enjoyed Katherine Marsh's other books, and partly to expose them to a bit to Eastern European folklore. To say the book did not disappoint is an understatement. The kids loved it.

This book is written to be accessible to middle schoolers. I'm a pretty literate fellow, and I found myself sucked into it. Marsh's writing is intelligent, creative, and unique.

I was not sure about the narrator in the first five minutes. But it was just the reading of one minor character that I was not sure about. The rest of the narration was masterful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I couldn’t put it down!!!!

This book was AMAZING! With wonderful imagery and story, it’s almost like you’re alongside the heroine. I would suggest this book to everyone who loves fantasy and myths!!!
