Publisher's summary

In this second installment in the series, Chrissy digs up clues to help Autumn solve a historical disappearance and a modern-day murder mystery

Autumn Clarke is getting her life back to normal with the help of her extraordinary shih tzu, Chrissy, when the death of a local philanthropist reveals the man’s dark family secrets, as well as unexpected ties to Autumn. When Chrissy discovers a dog-eared diary in the dead man’s family home, Autumn discovers that things in the Clarke family are not quite as they seem.

Can Autumn interpret the hidden clues in the dog-eared diary to crack the most puzzling disappearance in Knollwood history? Are the recent murders connected to the past? Is Chrissy more insightful than Autumn realized?

"I have fallen in love with Chrissy and Autumn and their continuing journey to health while finding themselves in the middle of a murder mystery adventure. My pre-teen daughter and I enjoyed reading The Dog-Eared Diary and then discussing the clues, plot twists, and characters." (Antoinette Brickhaus, Maryland)

"Through the relationship between Autumn and Chrissy, Wing also shows the importance of therapy animals and how much they can help those who need them. Add a sweet romance to the intrigue of the mystery and you've got a book that you won't want to put down." (Melissa Alvarez, Intuitive, animal communicator and author of Animal Frequency and Llewellyn's Little Book of Spirit Animals)

"Diane Wing has created a wonderfully endearing little character in Chrissy the Shih Tzu. It really shines through that the author is a lover of animals and dogs. I can see these books quickly becoming a cherished addition to the cozy mystery genre." (J. New, author of The Yellow Cottage Vintage Mysteries)

pretty good book

The story was pretty good. The main characters very likeable. The narration at times just wasn't convincing. If that makes any sense. The voice change for different characters just didn't quite feel right. I don't think she did a terrible, just not quite there. I didn't realize somehow that this is not the first in the series, so the "telepathic" connection with Chrissy didn't quite make sense. Or with Ray. It wasn't a large part of the story, so it did not really bother me.

That was a great book mystery!

I got interested immediately. I felt the narrator kept the pictures creatively flowing in my imagination. Great story line, nothing too hard for me to follow! I also liked that it wasn’t very long and drawn out. This was my first of Diane Wing’s audible books, and definitely I know there will be so many more! Thank you Diane for introducing me to Chrissy, what a beautiful fur baby detective! Sorry gotta go see what’s next for me to start listening to and solving.

Cute Cozy Mystery

This was my first experience with Diane Wing's work, and it was very charming. I liked the smalltown setting. I thought the characters were interesting and complex. I found the relationship between Autumn and Chrissy, her Shih Tzu adorable. I appreciated that the author brought attention to the use of animals as therapy companions, and how important they can be to the health of an individual. Lou Campbell's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Exceptional Mystery and Narration

This is the second book in its series, and even though I haven't read the first, it was easy to begin here, and I didn't sense any spoilers should I go back to read book one.
I was so engrossed in this story, and the multiple mysteries happening, I listened to the entire book in one session. This is an incredibly interesting and satisfying mystery that also hooks the listener into wanting to know more about the characters, and really liking them and their town, and of course their dogs!
The narration is superb. I became immersed in the story, and the characters came alive. I was able to forget that there was a single narrator, as each character was so distinct and well voiced.

The dog ear diary

I felt like this was a great story. Even though I sort of figured out who the killer was. The characters are really believable and I love the writing, the narrator with a little too overly dramatic for me but for the most part it was worth the read
