Who Will Be the First Human Empress of the Alliance Empire?

Doctor Drusilla James of Imperial House Vo went from being an insignificant human on Earth to one of the most influential women in the Alliance Empire. The goddess of home has granted to her this lofty position in exchange for her everlasting devotion to her and her continuing belief in the Lost People. However, Drusilla veered from the goddess’s path when she accepted Admiral Jei’s tempting offer to reanimate Commander Jane Johnson at the Capital City Hospital, and now she finds herself head-to-head with her adoptive mother for Imperial power.

Captain Kara of Imperial House Zu was heavily pressed into her current position. She never wanted to leave the human fleet and she certainly never wanted to marry Admiral Tir. She was forced by the Alliance gods and sold by humanity. Now all Kara desires is to be Empress in order to punish both the Empire and Earth for taking away her free will.

Has Mara Met Her True Other Half?

Mara, Head of House Human, finds herself in a tricky position, straddling two of the strongest women in the Alliance Empire. She doesn’t think she has the diplomatic skills to successfully maneuver her House through these politically turbulent times. Thankfully, she has attracted a suitor, Tuk of House Joi, and he is a seasoned diplomat. More importantly, he is willing to help Mara navigate the storm.

Will Humanity Survive in the Empire?

The Alliance Series is set in a fictional future where humans are small-time players in the big-time galaxy. There are no heroes or women being rescued; instead, listeners are led through an intricate maze of alien courting customs, duplicitous strict religious codes, vicious culture shock, and uncomfortable compromises.

Although you can jump in on the Renascence Alliance Series at any time, it’s highly recommended that you listen to the previous books first.

Full Throttle

Alma Nilsson goes full throttle in The Disciple of the Alien Goddess of Home! It's fast paced and all our favorite characters play a part. The Empire is a dangerous place! The social, economic, and personal struggles can be brutal. The Renascence Alliance series is very unique and engaging. -Not sure what I would do if faced with the same situations as the characters! My jaw dropped multiple times while listening.

Satisfying and Heartbreaking

I’ll start off by saying this is not a stand-alone book.
Books 1 to 6 of the Renascence Alliance series can easily be enjoyed on their own (they have 1 main character).
Book 7 and now book 8 are a different story. They follow the POV/ storyline of multiple people. Everything set in motion in previous books comes to a suspenseful conclusion here.
I think you won’t be able to follow and appreciate all the character building/ interaction and politics without having read (most of) the previous books.
And that would truly be a shame, this is a wonderful series.

I love this series, but after reading this epic conclusion I will never look at/ experience the previous books the same again.
I feel bonded with and invested in every single main character in this series, and alas not everyone of them will get their ‘happily ever after’.
This was a nail-bitingly suspenseful, jaw dropping, ‘I can’t believe this is happening’, ‘I don’t want to believe this is happening’ experience.
Let’s just say I did not see where the story was going (at least the first half) and that made it awesome and scary at the same time. I couldn't stop listening.
Like watching Game Of Thrones (after the conclusion of season 1) and knowing no one is safe.

In previous books the main focus was on the romance.
Even in book 7, where multiple story lines come together, Ellie’s romance predominated the story.
In this book there is also a new romance (starring Mara of House Human), but the main focus was on the politics.
I feel like this was a story that needed to be told. In every book we got to see glimpses of the bigger picture, and now finally everything comes together/ falls into place.
It was satisfying and heartbreaking.

Jill is an amazing narrator. There are so many different characters in this book, and she did a wonderful job of keeping them all distinguishable and full of character.
I enjoy and appreciate that so very much.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
