Story
Erik Keston, son of the Keston Real Estate empire, knows what it takes to be successful. Despite his inherent wealth, he holds his own. He works hard, he's grounded, he's brilliant. He's also secretly in love with his best friend. Monroe Wellman lost his parents three years ago and never grieved, never recovered. Inheriting the family company and wealth means nothing, and his spiral of self-destruction is widespread and spectacular. Dubbed Sydney's bad boy, he spends more days drunk than sober, and the only person who's stuck by him through it all is his best mate.

Growing up, I was taught that getting too close to someone would be my downfall. But I’ve proven that wrong now that I’m happily married to Jackson, the greatest man in the world. The issue is that mayhem always seems to find me (which is definitely not my fault), and this time, it comes in the form of a woman looking for her daughter.

Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate - or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack, whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met - laidback and quick to laugh, caring, and protective. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter, because it seems like someone wants us dead.

By: Alice Winters
Publisher's Summary
Nathaniel and Chasan are no ordinary angels.
Destiny chose them to be twin flames, fated mates. But Nathaniel has avoided Chasan for nearly a thousand years.
When sent to Earth on a mission to live and work together, Nathaniel comes face-to-face with his destiny. Short-tempered, petulant, and grumpy, he hates the idea of being fated to anyone and has chosen an existence of isolation rather than spending time with the calm, kind, and serene Chasan. But now he has no choice.
One is fire, the other is air; a true dichotomy of angels. Together they will be ignited, or they will be extinguished. This assignment will seal their fate either way.

My eyes are leaking in the best way!
I listened & jumped into this book blind. I know it’s an NR Walker, therefore it’s bound to be great. This book took me on a journey, along the way were different feels. The premise of the book is very unique, the setting is brilliant (both heaven & its corporate system and New York), the characters are endearing. It’s a really wonderful read. I was teary-eyed on some parts. But I was smiling wide especially after the epilogue. It’s one of those books where you wish there’s more.
Nick J Russo did amazing with his narration. The nuances of each characters were captured and varied. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I thoroughly enjoy NR Walker's storytelling capabilities. Everything is cruising along nicely then BAM! straight to the heart.

All the feels and more.
I adore N.R. Walker’s books. They are never formulaic and I’m usually surprised by the stories. But this book, The Dichotomy of Angels, is one of my favorites. I love the journey of the characters and cried openly (yet again) on the NYC subway. Folks were visibly heartbroken for me until I told them it was an audiobook. Nick Russo, one of my favorite narrators, knocked it out of the park with this one. If you’re hedging about whether to purchase this audiobook or not, I hope my glowing review helps you with your decision.

Fantastic, Excellent, Totally Entertaining!!
NRW has definitely outshone writing this story, excellently crafted, and seeing what humanity could be and the possibility of angels walking and living among us.
Highly amusing and great humility and humour well mixed - will have you laughing one minute (especially the MC Hammer moment - definitely look out for that one, had me in fits of laughter), and tearing up in another.
NJR narrates this audiobook outstandingly - he is definitely the right person for this and brings the characters realistically to life.
I cannot praise this audiobook enough - just an excellent feelsy book and guaranteed to make your day 😊👍😁

2.5 stars - tiresome
Was I listening to a different book to everyone else? Why all the good ratings? I usually love N.R. Walker books but this one was so tiresome and really dragged. I was wishing for it to end. The first two thirds of the story could have been condensed down to half the size and it might have been better - but Nathanial’s stance got boring fast. However, even with that the plot was all a bit meh. I feel left in a book slump and really hope my next purchase lifts me. Please get back to your good writing N.R. Walker! There’s a few I’ve not got recently because of bad reviews so I think they might be in a writer’s lull.

Complex and colourful. A beautiful story.
NR Walker has designed a fascinating concept of Angels running Heaven like an organisation and needing to take ‘Assignments’ to earth to help guide the mortal humans to the right paths. The Dichotomy of Angels is a thought-provoking and enthralling story full of interesting characters who make me smile, laugh and gasp.
Nathaniel is a grumpy Angel who enjoys running the Hell Department and smiting worthy souls when the need arises. He likes working alone and keeping to himself. It is safe to say Nathaniel is NOT a people person.
Chasan is the complete opposite. A bright and happy Angel who gets along with everyone and has a sweet disposition. He spends most of his time helping others and always has a smile and a kind word.
Nathanial and Chasan are fated to be together in a very rare blending of ‘twin souls’. However, Nathaniel resists this connection and keeps his distance from Chasan as much as he can. When they are assigned to a mission together where they have to act as a married couple, things get tense and emotions, feelings and histories long buried are uncovered and left raw.
The Dichotomy of Angels is a captivating story with deep emotions, sweet moments, humour and tension. I particularly loved the descriptions of the simple pleasures of the human body by the Angels not used to mortal flesh – hot showers, food, the affects of alcohol all make for an enjoyable and delightful read! NR Walker blends perfectly the sweet and sour, smiles and tears – teasing her readers with enough tension to coil us tight before unleashing our hearts with sweetness and all the sexy hotness we come to expect from her brilliant writings!
Nick Russo's narration is brilliant and adds even more colour and delight to both the characters and dialogue.
