The Devil's Due

Good story but the story seemed very short. I guess I am used to doubt figure hours via Laurie R. King. Good all the way around.

Sherlock over the hill

Maybe it is just me having lived a long time, but this book for me was painful to read. There has always been boundaries around S.H. books that reached he readers so they had a sense of expectation or perhaps understanding of how he & his side kick Watson would work together. This book begins with desperately injuring S. H. that put everything askew. In comes a little known brother that takes over and distracts to the point of nauseam. There was nothing familiar about the characters by this writer.....nothing. I regret reading it.

Interesting story in its own right

In my reviews of the two previous Bonnie MacBird pastiches based on Sherlock Holmes, I stated she captured Doyle's style of writing better than most modern authors have. She continues that tradition with this volume, although I believe this is the slightly weaker piece in the trio. The narrator, who also read Book Two, does a far better job in this work, which makes all the difference in an audio book. Overall this tome was entertaining and generally a good read. Not my favorite in the series, but close.

Tried hard to like it but couldn't even finish it

There were good elements to this book and the narrator is fairly good but the good parts were drowned out for me by the cheapness of making Watson an absolute idiot who, in their third book together by this author and after years of sharing adventures together, still doesn't seem to know Holmes at all! This just seemed such a poor way of meshing everything together and bringing about the finale. It angered me and insulted my intelligence after the actually enjoyable parts of the book. Can't recommend it.

Amazing

I really enjoy Bonnie's Sherlock stories! The Devil's Due was just as great as the last two and I can't wait for the next one!
