This second volume of national best-selling author Susan Wittig Albert’s Darling Dahlias mysteries once more transports listeners to the dusty streets of Depression-era Darling, Alabama.

When strangers Nona Jean Jamison and Miss Lake roll into town, the rumor mill starts grinding. It seems that these two women may be the infamous Naughty and Nice Sisters from the Ziegfeld Frolic - specializing in dancing nearly naked! But when Nona denies this association, the Dahlias, who suspect she’s being more than just modest, begin digging around for the truth.

I REALLY ENJOY THIS SERIES. I HOPE SUSAN WITTIG ALBERT WRITES MORE; THESE ARE JUST GREAT STORIES DURING THE DEPRESSION AND THE MYSTERIOUS GOINGS ON IN THIS LITTLE TOWN. THESE LADIES CANNOT HELP THEMSELVES, THEY GET INTO MORE TROUBLE BUT COME OUT SMELLING LIKE ROSES.

GREAT GROUP OF LADIES

Would you listen to The Darling Dahlias and the Naked Ladies again? Why?

yes, I'll probably listen to it again. I'm always interrupted multiple times while listening to a title. Listening again allows me to notice details and nuances which I missed the first time around. And, I really enjoy hearing the best of the dialogue multiple times!

What did you like best about this story?

I'm a gardener and a garden club member; it was interesting to hear about the projects earlier garden clubbers carried out. I can't say our garden club has been involved in saving anyone from crazed criminals!

What about Peggity Price’s performance did you like?

She does a decent Southern folks dialect. I'm from the South, so phony accents are pretty grating!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed alot. Many of the characters are a real hoot!

Any additional comments?

This is how you write a cozy mystery. Depression era, great well described characters and a small town story. Excellent series.

Susan Wittig Albert has a wonderful series going with the Darling Dahlias. Darling, Alabama, could be just about any small town in the U.S., even ones that don't have a local garden club. The Dahlias are easy reads -- or perhaps I should say"listens" in this forum. That doesn't mean, though, that you'll find your mind wandering as you listen. There's always something going on! Peggity Price does an excellent job continuing the Dahlias' story. Her accent and characterization are spot on, while still being easy to understand.

There was one part that I found unrealistic. I won't spoil the story, but it seemed to me that a great deal of information was gained easily with a single phone call to a stranger. It would have been better had the information not come quite so easily.

If you're a lover of the cozy, Darling Dahlias and the Naked Ladies won't disappoint!
