Publisher's summary

Have you ever had one of those really bad days at work? You know, one where your sexy AF boss catches you photocopying your backside in his office?

No? Just me, then?

I blame my bestie and partner-in-chaos. She challenged me with a not-so-innocent dare that I should’ve flat out declined.

But I’m an adrenaline junkie, and now, here I am. I know it sounds crazy, and daredevil tendencies aside, I definitely went too far to get his attention.

But you haven’t seen him.

Colton Wolfe. My boss. Tall, dark, handsome, and with the sexiest British accent I’ve ever heard.

His only flaw? That he’s completely oblivious to what’s been right in front of him all along.

Me.

Well, he was, until a few minutes ago.

Remember those good old days?

Before I got caught bare-assed and making nice with the copy machine, and before I was totally getting fired? But wait. Maybe I’m not.

If I can take on the biggest dare of all: making Colton Wolfe fall in love with me.

Awful

I never leave reviews, but this book was so bad that I felt I had to. I literally could not finish it. The characters were unlikable and often acted in ways foreign to what their personalities should be. Like a big time, driven executive who is on the verge of a life changing career move is going to put his rivals daughter to work on his project? And then spend the days at work daring her to do funny things in his office instead of handling the project that means so much to him? It made no sense. I absolutely hated the female lead. I found her immature and annoying. The whole story was ridiculous and I’m mad I wasted my time and money on it. I do not understand why this book got so many good reviews. I love a light hearted rom-com, but this book was so full of cliches I just couldn’t get past it.

Loyalisa30

Lauren Landish really turned my tickle box over with this rom-com❣️In all honesty, I didn’t think I would enjoy this story because of the juvenile behavior of Elle and her bestie, Tiffany. However, “The Dare” turned out to be the comedic relief I needed. I actually found myself laughing out loud at the antics of Elle, her BFF and Colton 😂. I loved Elle’s zest for life, honesty, and ability to stand up for herself no matter what the consequences were going to be. Likewise, Colton’s take-charge mentality and ability to go with the flow even when things didn’t go as planned, proved that he was honorable, driven, understanding, and loyal. Together, Elle and Colten was a powerhouse professionally and wickedly sexy as a couple! Shane East didn’t disappoint with his wonderful narration and sexy accent. Carly Robins’s narrating was fantastic and so expressive that I felt like I was personally witnessing the shenanigans up close and personal. Great listen!

this book was fun. I've not laughed that hard in a while. although the end was cut off. and all kinds of good stuff thrown into a quick flat epilogue.

You won’t need a dare to love this story

It seems that Lauren Landish is on a roll . This story has it all , action , drama , humour, rivals that challenge each other . There are 2 males think their idea for a new second headquarters for the company is the best .
What I love about this story is the heroine was trying to get the hero’s attention by the littlest things. Her best friend was daring her.

Hero is Colton . Heroine is Ellie .

Colton is a British Alpha male , he’s all business with a chip on his shoulders. Colton is having a competition Dalton ( Elles father) Colton does know the meaning of fun till he meets Elle . Ellie has had the hots for Colton and she gets frustrated when after one thing after another her best friend Tiffany dares her . Ellie speaks to Colton for the first time when Tiffany dare goes terrible wrong .
Colton can’t believe what Ellie was up to , Ellie is afraid that she will get fired after her stunt , but Colton thinks of a way to use Ellie. Colton needs to go back home to London England to make his dream a reality. There is many funny moments in the story like the mini golf , the bungee jumping. There are some drama moments also , how Colton father treats him , how Coltons mother conned Ellie to a tea with nasty ladies . How Coltons father ties to destroy Colton dream back home. He’s dream is almost destroyed until Nan saves the day . You will absolutely love this story .

Shane East and Carly Robbins performance was mind blowing. It’s a performance that is speechless

Gives you the feels ...

Landish has a wicked sense of humor. Audio gives her the chance to finally put it on full display. Robins and East are a temptation that is not to be missed. They give voice to what was already an addictive temptation. Elle and Colton are the best kind of naughty, because they not only stir up senses, but appeal to the heart. Whether laughing out loud or holding your breath, Landish and company give you the feels in the most tempting and delightful way.

I dare you to listen!

Perfect way to start my week, Lauren Landish had me laughing out loud with The Dare! Tiffany and Elle are best friends and to keep thing fun and exciting, play a game daring each other to do things out of their comfort zone. There are boundaries, but when Tiffany dares Elle to get seen by her boss, Colton, she takes it on. And what happens next is something she doesn't expect. Colton is a workaholic, so when he finds Elle in his office, it's a great new distraction. When she ends up working for him, it's in direct competition with her father. Will she be loyal to her boss or report back to her dad? Will their relationship work outside the office or is it just a fling? And what will happen when they go to England together? I loved all the characters, right down to Colton's mom. The dares become part of the flirty package of Colton and Elle, and it's both funny, and endearing as they come up with the next one! It's fast paced, hysterically funny and a blast to listen to. Landish has a flare for writing such great entertainment. It's smart, steamy and so much fun, the time flew by! Keep them coming, I dare Lauren to give us more!

This narration team of Shane East and Carly Robins is amazing. Comedic timing is spot on, the chemistry amazing. They flow from point of views with ease and give us hours of enjoyment. I loved them together!

Funny, unpredictable, sexy, just awesome!!

Another great book by Lauren Landish! She brings the comedy as usual, lots of steamy and sexy scenes, and some great twists and turns to keep you guessing. I never found myself checking to see if the book was almost over like I do with some titles, in fact I was hoping I still had some more story left to go! A couple times the supporting characters especially had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. The narrators were perfect, especially Shane. They were not the same narrators I am finding everyone else using, either. I am starting to find that there are a few narrators who it seems every time I begin an audiobook it happens to be narrated by one of the same few people. I do love those extremely popular narrators, but was a pleasant switch. Sometimes you want to listen to another voice for a change, and they did an absolutely great job. I will definitely listen to this again.

Could not finish.... Unrealist Plot

Female narrator voice is painful. Story line is pretty rediculous. So many words, too many

get someone who is actually British to proof read!

The story for me was completely ruined by what I can only assume is an American, with a handful of (what they consider to be 'British phrases'), throwing them in haphazardly, incorrectly, without regard for context, class or region... it's painful!

Put into context for any American reader of this review, its like like a character starting a conversation with a Louisiana accent using phrases only used in Brooklyn, throwing in a "howdy ya'll" periodically for no apparent reason and ending with a Mexican accent.

This was truly painful to read and worst of all avoidable! it's called a proof reader, one who understands the (British) English language, British slang and which classes use which words (oh and words or phrases they would never ever use).

Rant over... the story itself is ok(ish), a bit thin and predictable but whereas Americans reading it won't get the numerous language screwups and thus be less distracted by them, if you're British there are much better, less frustrating books than this out there, because as with many comments on here it ends up being annoying and cringeworthy enough to distract from the story and that's not good!

Gave this up with 4 hrs to go!

I did try to get into this story I generally like Lauren Landish's stories but this was certainly not one I will be revisiting.
The "Dare me" plot was ok but imho did get old and the characters were not believable. I could not get my head around a CEO of a major company being followed around by knuckle dragging heavies threatening another senior executive openly and trying to control his daughter. I had to check it was not a Mafia novel.

I know there are differences between British and American sayings but really???

My final straw was when the main characters went to London and met "The family" WTF really Downton Abbey meets Eastenders? I'm not sure if this story was inspired by a Jane Austen novel but the family seemed stuck in the 17th century.

Unfortunately for me this "Jumped the shark" Shane East and Carly Robins did try.

Don’t bother

This book was predictable the use of language wasn’t very good, English slang was out of context to frequently used and was embarrassing.....and it made the writer seem inept.

Refreshing

Loved the fresh take on a very old story! The dialogue and language used was equally refreshing (although occasionally fairly immature), bringing my recent stodgy stories into the modern era. Also sex positive stories are always a win in my book (pun intended). I, however, have serious doubts the British tabloids would be as forgiving as depicted.
Regardless, book was definitely fun!
