"Sometimes I think this place is nothing more than a terrible illusion..."

Alex West thinks he's found paradise when he and his wife, Jennifer, purchase The Glass House in the exclusive community of Winter Cove Estates. Years of writing #1 bestselling psychological thrillers have left Alex with zero privacy, so they leave Manhattan for the privacy Maine allegedly offers. But Jennifer isn't so sure about the move. She grew up in Maine, and returning means confronting violent memories she's spent years trying to forget. Still, she loves Alex enough to face her past for his future.

From the moment they arrive, nothing feels quite right.

Their new neighbor, HOA president Raven Hale, greets Jennifer with disturbing warnings and cryptic hints about the previous owner's death. Strange phone calls start coming from someone who shouldn't be able to call anyone at all because they're dead. And in a basement they never knew existed, they discover things that were left behind for a killer reason.

As the perfect facade of Winter Cove Estates begins to crack, Jennifer finds herself questioning not just her neighbors' motives, but her own memories. The line between what's real and what's constructed becomes dangerously thin, and Jennifer must navigate an increasingly unstable world where nothing—and no one—can be trusted.

In Winter Cove Estates, buried secrets refuse to stay dead. And when reality itself becomes the enemy, the question isn't who you can trust.

It's whether you can trust yourself.

A masterfully twisted exploration of trauma, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive, The Cul-de-Sac will leave you questioning everything you think you know about reality itself.

Perfect for listeners of Freida McFadden, Gillian Flynn, Ruth Ware, and Riley Sager who crave psychological thrillers that blur the boundaries between truth and delusion.

This book was recommended quite a bit in the thriller fb groups so when I saw it was on audio finally, I was excited to get into it. It wasn’t at all what I thought, I thought it was about the neighborhood like another neighborhood/friendship drama book but it wasn’t at all, it was more about mental health. It does get into the neighborhood a bit and some crazy things start to happen but it’s not the whole story. I was definitely confused many times and wondering what the heck was happening but it wasn’t bad. It was still a good read. The narrator was fine voice wise but I could hear movement in the back, hear her swallow and take breaths and shuffle papers around it sounds like. It was a good read for Spooky season, lots of scary, wild things happen.

Not what I thought but still good

Book was hard to follow and boring. It started out ok but then got weird and I didn’t get where the story was going. The ending was flat and disappointing.
