Publisher's summary

Joey Crow and Caleb Hollings first see each other across the rural Oregon country road that separates the farms they live on. The two seven-year-old boys make an instant connection that spans the following 11 years.

Joey, an orphaned Native American boy, has come to live with his grandparents on their farm after the mysterious disappearance of his parents from the local reservation.

Caleb is the only son of devoutly Christian parents. He is raised in a strict, conservative, and church-going family, where modern technology is forbidden.

The Crow Flies Free follows the two young men in the summer of their 18th birthdays as they begin to recognize their loving friendship has grown into a deeper kind of love. Follow Joey and Caleb as they begin a journey that answers the question of Joey's parents' disappearance and their coming-of-age love story.

Wonderful debut.

A beautiful coming of age story, a great debut novel by author Michael Robert.
I truly got immersed in this beautiful tale of Joey and Caleb becoming men. These two boys have shared a soul since they met when they were 7 years old and through the years they each have been the most important person in the other’s life, first as best friends and then as so much more.
Loss, deceit, doubts and, ultimately, a good dose of teenage angst make up the counterpoint of this engrossing story.
Loved Curtis Holland’s performance, it really kept me rooted to the story even more.

Loved It!

Best book I have listened to in quite a while, I really enjoyed it. The character depth was phenomenal and I was engrossed in the story the whole time. I really hope he has a follow up to this book with maybe Landon's story. I highly recommend!!

Great Debut

What a beautiful debut this is. The Crows Flies Free is a breathtaking love story between Joey and Caleb. It’s a coming of age that was complicated by living in rural America and the disappearance of Joey’s parents.

Joey and Caleb’s bond started when they were seven years old and became stronger as they turn into young men. The love they had for each other was palpable on every page they were together and even when they were apart.

And Landon, I need a book about him! He is a naughty guy, but I had a feeling that it was just a facade.

Joey was the star of this book. I felt his heartaches, but the love he had from his grandparents made him a better man.

This book will make you hot and cry, but in the end, love wins once again!

Congratulations Michael Robert!
