So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. By: Angela Pepper
Publisher's Summary
A week-long stay in a creepy Connecticut mansion is replete with hidden passageways, disappearing corpses, and quirky inheritance recipients. And if that’s not enough to make for hair-raising moments on the secluded, storm-bound estate, how about a ghost named Fred?
The stipulation in the will of Jill Jocasta Fonne’s aunt reads: If a guest leaves early, his or her share will be divided among those remaining. The first one to leave - permanently - dies just hours after arriving.
Soon, people start dropping like flies. Donning amateur sleuth caps, Jill and her associates Rey and Linda attempt to solve the mystifying murders. Others jump in, and the bumbling and stumbling - and mayhem - begin.

Took some effort to get into.
So this book took me a few tries to get into, but it did pick up decently towards the middle and end. I feel like it could have been shorter though and was a little too stretched out. The idea is good enough, a mystery weekend clue style. A bunch of family and friends of the deceased get together to see who can handle a weekend in the creepy mansion and inherit a butt load of money. Of course a death occurs and now its time to solve the crime. There are so many different story lines going on in this book it is hard at times to remember who is who and then throw in some weird twists and it does keep you guessing. Don't want to give away any spoilers but there are a lot of a-ha moments and nothing is quite like it seems. Decent narration for a decent storyline. Little Too Complicated
I was excited to read this one by the description, but I was a bit disappointed. It's simply a bit too complicated to follow via book with too many characters to follow- it possibly would be a lot easier to follow in movie format. The narrator did a great job and definitely helped keep my attention during my moments of confusion. I would say this is geared for adults in the writing and language style and would be a great read for those who like complex puzzles with lots of dry sarcasm.

Good Narration; Difficult to Follow Story
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
I wanted to love this book, unfortunately I did not. There is plenty to like about it - there is some good humor/cultural references; interesting characters and a good premise for a mystery. I was expecting something along the lines of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." As I listened to this book [and this is absolutely no fault of the narrator] - I found there were too many characters to keep track of; too many scenes with an overwhelming amount of description; and I found myself getting lost - a lot. Perhaps this would have been a better experience if I had read the book. I will not be continuing with this series.
The narrator, Cindy Piller, did a great job. I would certainly listen to another of her narrations.

A spoof version of the locked door mystery........
When I decided to read The Connecticut Corpse Caper, I was expecting a combination of Agatha Cristie's And Then There Were None and the movie version of CLUE. Although this had elements of both, and I overall enjoyed the book, I am not sure that I would continue the series. The book was extremely well written and very humorous in parts, Unfortunately, I kept getting lost in all the detail and mental meanderings of the characters. I found my attention wandering, and I would need to pull myself back to the story time and again. I think the story might have worked better if the author had less description and more action, but that might just be my preferences peaking through this review. The author puts a unique spin on a timeless mystery theme, and the humor is dry and witty. If you are a fan of whodunnit mysteries with multiple suspects, scenarios and outcomes, I think you would find The Connecticut Corpse Caper enjoyable.
Cindy Piller's narration is excellent. She differentiates well between the characters, and she handles the humor of the story with skill. Although I had some difficulty following the story, that was more a matter of too many characters and too many details rather than any fault of Piller's narration.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Agatha-Christie-esque, but overly complicated
I love a "locked room" mystery so I was really excited to listen to this book. Honestly it was kind of "meh" for me. I liked the main character and her boyfriend, and I thought the set up for the book was interesting- but I started to lose interest half way through. There's a lot of characters and I got confused who was who as the book progressed. Also there were some detailed scenes that seemed to slow the story down without actually taking it anywhere. It was a good one time listen but not one that I'll go back to again.
I received this title for free in exchange for an honest review.

Good fun!
inheritance, spoof, situational-humor, verbal-humor, murder, pranks
All of the characters certainly are, including the deceased! Is it a game of clue or the movie Scavenger Hunt? In any case, it's nowhere near as serious as And Then There Were None. It's a spoof or maybe a farce, but in any case it kept me laughing throughout the whole book! It also kept me guessing as to who was behind the murders. Loved it!
Narrator Cindy Piller did a fantastic job of maximizing the fun and the mystery.

An Enjoyable And Amusing Mystery
I found this book to be an enjoyable and amusing mystery that purrs along at a comfortable pace, the characters are interesting and there are enough twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. I found this a bit like an American version of an Agatha Christie mystery. It was very nicely narrated by Cindy Piller who has a wonderful voice, I am very much looking forward to book 2.

Story
A grieving young widow, Charlene needed a new start - so she bought a historic mansion, sight unseen, and drove from Chicago to New England to start turning it into a bed-and-breakfast. On her first night in the house, she awakens to find a handsome man with startling blue eyes in her bedroom. Terror turns to utter disbelief when he politely introduces himself as Jack Strathmore - and explains that he used to live here - when he was alive. He firmly believes that someone pushed him down the stairs three years ago, and he won't be able to leave until someone figures out who.

Story
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom?
