Publisher's Summary

Eighteen years ago a teenage pregnancy changed Kate Worthington's life forever. Faced with many difficult decisions, she chose to follow her heart and embrace an uncertain future with Glenn Ferguson, her devoted first love...and the father of her baby.

At the same time, in another part of the world, 16-year-old Ryan Hamilton makes his own share of mistakes, but learns important lessons along the way.

Soon Kate's and Ryan's paths cross in a way they never expected, which makes them question the existence of destiny. Even when all seems hopeless, is it possible that everything happens for a reason, and do we end up exactly where we are meant to be?

MyMusings

I thoroughly enjoyed The Color of Destiny from the first page to the last. Lots of high emotion in this one with enthralling characters and an intriguing plot. While the narrator is not outstanding, she does a credible job. Can't wait to read the next one in this series. Happy reading/listening!

“I believe that if you’ve been through hell and you come out the other side, you appreciate the little things more.”

Beautiful story. This book is 2 stories weaved together.

Katy gets pregnant at a very early age in a time when things like that are highly frowned upon. Lots of grown up decisions are forced on her and some taken from her. She is sent away to live with her aunt in order to not disgrace the family. After tragic incidents occur, Kate decides to become a paramedic after marrying her high school sweetheart.

Ryan was a punk kid with no responsibilities until a tragic incident turns his life around. Now, he is a doctor in Canada with a family.

Though destiny, these 2 people from different parts of the world will come together after many trials and tribulations.

Good Addition to the Series

This is the second book in The Color of Heaven series. While this book is part of series, you can easily read it as a standalone. Though I highly recommend you read the series because Julianne MacLean does such a good job of creating rich characters with thought provoking storylines.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that information here. I have read many of Julianne's books, including other books in the Color of Heaven series, but hadn't read this one yet. It did not disappoint me, even though it was a confusing read at times with the way it went back and forth between the main characters. It is worth hanging in there and reading the entire book.

I also have the Kindle version. I like how the Kindle and Audible versions update where you stopped reading/ listening when switching between the two. Julia Motyka, Jennifer O'Donnell, and Paul L. Coffey were the narrators for the audio version. They did a good job in narrating the book. All three were very articulate and easy to understand. While I normally don't enjoy listening to female narrators, both Julia and Jennifer did a good job and I had no problem with listening to them.

A Winner

Destiny is defined as "a predetermined course of events considered as something beyond human power or control" (The Free Dictionary) and this is exactly what this book is about.
I found the story extremely thought provoking, making me think about my own life, the people in it and how each contact had helped shape my own thoughts and actions and decisions.
In the story we have two people who because of life's accidents go on to live a certain life until they eventually meet and are drawn together into a loving relationship. They support each other and with the help of family members are able to unravel a twenty year old mystery that changes their lives once more.
This is their 'destiny'.
It is beautifully written and Julianne McLean has the power to suck one right into her book with her power of the written word.
All three narrators were superb. Their enactment of this tale a well orchestrated symphony.
I highly recommend this book and audiobook.

enlightening and confirming

The follow through for the characters was life confirming and realistic. It was easy to apply to anyone's personal timeline. Life is a wonderful journey we creat as we venture along and being able to recreate our own creativity through the stories of others makes our own Destiny real. Thank you for a great read.
