A darkly magical coming of age story

The Chronicles of Kerrigan Prequel series is a darkly magical coming of age series which includes romance and violence. The story starts a little slow and the box set ends in a cliffhanger (there are more books in the series), but overall this is a good set of books. I would have picked a male narrator since the central character is male, but the narrator still does a nice job.

I received this box set as a gift. This is my honest and voluntary review.

All the Kerrigan books are a cross between Harry Potter and Vampire Diaries, starts in a school, people getting gifted with skills teachers guiding them, but twisted and intriguing like vampire diary's

Which scene was your favorite?

The Fight between Tristan and Simon

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Who knew a Tattoo could bring so much power!

Awesome

Love this giving us the dirt on Simon, not only his beginnings but his beginnings with Beth. I love the audio and completely enjoyed the story. The author gives us a touching and emotional replay bringing us closer to this wonderful cast of characters. A story that will appeal to all ages with plenty of excitement and intrigue and oh yes action. Love this author and the world she is making us a member of, mysterious and magical!!

Great introduction to this series!

This was my first book by this author and I loved it. The story with its twists and turns kept me intrigued until the very end. Now I need to get the rest of series!

The narrator did a wonderful job with all of the characters in the story! I definitely want to listen to more of her work.

Great Read

Any additional comments?

The Chronicles of Kerrigan Prequel Series by W.J. May was a great book. This book included books one through three of the prequel series. This followed Simon as he gains his tattoo and his powers. I enjoyed reading why everyone feared the Kerrigan name. I can't wait to read more by W.J. May.

Need More!

I'll never get enough of this series, Rae or Simon! I'm on to Hidden Darkness now but then I'm going to need more of these series.

Not My Style

I don't know what possessed me to listen. These are kids trying to do adult things. Just wasn't my style.

So much explained

I loved this series. Already a fan of the Chronicles of Kerrigan original series, so much of the background is explained during this prequel series.
The quintessential anti-hero Simon Kerrigan was just a rumour for most of the original series. Here he and Rae's mother Beth are fleshed out and Rae's beginnings are explained.
The narration of Sarah Anne Masse is impeccable. The accent and identity of the various English characters are well defined.

A rival for Harry Potter, me thinks!!

I loved the three books, but must warn of the cliff hanger ending.
The plot is definitely developing, as each book unfolds more depth and something of a sinister character of Simon. However, I will not spoil the story for you, but the connection between Harry Potter's world and Simon Kerrigan is worth considering.
