Publisher's summary

Aveline is no ordinary noblewoman. And hers is no ordinary story....

Love and Blood is the much awaited sequel to The Chronicles of Aveline: Awakening, a historical thriller and romance for listeners who enjoy medieval and Crusades stories.

After escaping from a life sentence at a convent, Lady Aveline of Froulingham fulfills her ambition of linking up with King Richard’s forces in the Holy Land. Her quest is to find her former lover, Sir Quentin de Ballon, sentenced by the Church to fight in the crusade for 13 years as punishment for their illicit love affair.

Aveline finds herself in the midst of the war between Richard the Lionheart's and Saladin's armies, as they battle for control of Jerusalem. She quickly earns the monicker, The Green Devil - feared by Saladin's army for her formidable skills with sword and bow.

But...they do not know she's a woman.

As her search for Quentin continues, her love wavers when she finds herself increasingly attracted to a protective French knight, Sir Guy de Toulouse. Together with her squire Athlestan, he has been her companion throughout her long sea voyage to the Holy Land.

Can her love for Quentin withstand the cruelties of war?

How can she continue hiding her true identity from the king when she is asked to join the King's Guard?

Find out in Love and Blood, The Chronicles of Aveline book two.

A saga of love, history, adventure, and suspense.

Second Book In The Series

I used an Audible credit for this audiobook because it wasn't available on AudiobooksUnleashed. Having read Book 1, I had to pick up this one. It is a continuation of Aveline's adventures as a knight in the Crusades. Surrounded by history she sets off to find Quinton who is serving a sentence he and Aveline suffered earlier. There will be a Book 3 because there are unresolved elements. The covers are similar and I passed this book by several times before I read the fine print. A truly great read and narration.

Woman Warrior

Aveline has escaped from her life sentence in a nunnery. After abuses and the loss of her child she has set out to find her lover who was sentenced to the Crusades-also a death sentence. Aveline is strong intelligent woman who is skilled with bow and sword. She has landed in the midst of Saladin and Richard the Lionhearted. Aveline has grown and changed through her journey. She is now part of the Kings Guard. The lovers are reunited but ponder after all the trials they've both endured are their fates still intertwined?

Excellent research reveals the mindset of those battling on both sides. Aveline exhibits all the virtues of any knight: loyalty, leadership and faithfulness.

The abuses found in feudalism, against women and within the church need to be confronted. Aveline knows that these are some of the many battles to be faced in her future. This is a journey I look forward to taking with her! I highly recommend this book.** I received a free copy of this audiobook in lieu of giving an honest review.
