When Joy tells Miranda that she plans to drive an old RV decked out in Christmas decorations from their Chicago neighborhood to her new retirement digs in Phoenix - in the dead of winter, no less - the much younger Miranda insists that Joy cannot make such a trip by herself. Publisher's summary
Inspired by their late friend's gifts for them, four members of a book club each decide to become someone's Christmas angel - and find their own lives are changed. Perfect for listeners who want a heartwarming and hopeful Christmas story.
Five women from different walks of life have become close friends through their book club - enjoying one another's company even more than they enjoy the books. So when the leader of the book club unexpectedly passes away on the cusp of the Christmas season, the four remaining friends are stunned. They relied on Abby for inspiration and motivation. She was the glue that held them together, and they're sure that without her the group can't continue.
When the group gathers "one last time" to open a bag Abby's husband gives them, they find Abby had made each of them an angel ornament for Christmas, crafted especially for each woman and accompanied by a sweet and personal note. Inspired by their beloved friend, together Cassidy, Louisa, Grace, and Belinda decide to commit themselves to becoming Christmas angels to others in need. Each woman will use her life situation and talents to reach out and help others in her own unique way - little knowing that her own life and her relationships will be changed forever.
Fan favorite Melody Carlson is back with another touching Christmas story sure to grip listeners' hearts and perhaps inspire them to become Christmas angels themselves.

Becoming More with Christ and Friendship
A story filled with the kind of problems that real people have, not just the "pretty" pictures that folks like to paint . . . waking up to the news that one of their closest friends has passed away from an aneurysm in the night . . . a few years after surviving cancer . . . the ladies from a book club are heartbroken . . . and really not knowing if they can trust a God that lets something like this happen . . . these women, from all walks of life, different ages, and all struggling with their own issues, are missing Abby, who had been the glue that held their small group together . . . and when Abby's husband delivers Christmas gifts to the friends that Abby made prior to passing away, small miracles begin to happen in each of their lives . . . healing, joy, learning to forgive, learning to accept the gifts that God gives us in this life and finding that most of the time the happiness comes in the journey . . . a wonderful story for Christmas . . .

Nice Christmas story with a great message
Melody Carlson always delivers a great Christmas story with an uplifting and meaningful message. This one was a nice story, not too sappy but lighthearted. I gave it only three stars for narration because there was a sort of warbling in the narrator's voice from time to time. I don't know if it was the narrator or the recording, but at times it sounded like I was listening to a mechanical, computerized voice. It came and went, but I was very aware of it and found it irritating. However, it was a perfect Christmas read (or rather, "listen-to").
