Publisher's summary

Stanford computer science professor Richard Nelson is on a mission to save humanity from itself. To do so, he must first save his wife Virginia. In this quest, Richard and his neuroscientist friend Pari seek the code to immortality. Along the way, they build a new world and a society so secret most do not know they are even in it.

A dramatic first day of college for Richard's top students, Victor, Marisa, and Connor, sets them on a collision course with this secret society. For Victor, things start off bad and keep getting worse. He struggles to change his fortune, struggling most of all with Richard. Marisa and Connor team up to help Victor as they strive to become the heroes Richard has called on programmers to be.

While unlocking the capability to transcend into digital form, they grapple with the moral questions they awaken. As a looming danger approaches, Richard remains willing to die for his cause and most of all for Virginia. But how many deaths must he endure?

A little of everything, humor , wit and sadness

Incredible story about the human spirit , and love.
Richard challenges the notion of until death do us part. He clings to the memory of his wife in a devotion that borders on unhealthy. But once you see why, you'll have a new appreciation for what matters in life. For a while I thought he was bitter and obsessed.

Marisa, and Quinn are amazing women that can code ! Pari is another brilliant and likable female role model. This book is filled with strong women and more representative of the real world than much of what's out there. Tina, all although she seems perfect , has a dark past riddled with guilt and shame. I like how this book defies the notion that tech is simply an all-boys club without being overt or preachy about it. The story itself is filled with many interesting female and male characters with complicated back grounds. The story lines eventually come together in a surprising way. This book is filled with suspense , sci -fi , and profound love . I grew to love all the characters and can’t wait to read about them in the future.
