Publisher's summary

Meet the Trellis family: They're a little bit psychic, a little bit empathic, and completely oblivious to their special gifts.

Matilda's not your typical damsel in distress. Bold, decisive, and unapologetically disabled, she is a self-employed strategic consultant in the liquor industry. Her reputation for success has landed her a sales opportunity to make a new brand of beer.

Tall, dark, and handsome, Jake Trellis is ready to play the role of a foul-mouthed Prince Charming.

When Matilda shows up in his office doorway, late for a sales meeting, dripping wet, partially frozen, and babbling about a mishap, Jake is certain lady-tears are incoming. He was not anticipating getting snarked at and shellacked at eight-ball.

Between Matilda's outrageous BFFs and Jake's hilarious extensive family, this Midwest-based romantic comedy offers inspiration, laughter, and a sneaky bit of psychic, empathic magic. Jake and Matty's journey to love - screeching shrews, slobbering dogs, gifted dildos, unfortunate naughty public encounters, and family antics included - is the start of something bigger.

Contains mature themes.

Loved the book, loved the audiobook!

Laugh out loud funny, tears, characters that learn and improve. Lots of foul language and moderate stream. Excellent on all fronts!

Really a good one!

So this book started off strong as a rom com - more com than rom for the most part. It did really slow down though, and didn’t pick up until about hour 6. I would not classify this as a steamy book, but the romance is cute and well done (it does take a really long time to get to the finished line though, and there is a real absence of sexual tension). You don’t see any of the “paranormal” characteristics until about the last 1-2 hours. I feel like that’s because, while this is definitely Jacob and Matilda’s love story, this book sets up the whole series and a lot of foundational information is given in this book. For that reason this book drags in the middle. That being said, the writing is excellent and so is the dialogue. I never wondered who was speaking or whether it was internal conversation. The narrator is excellent! Different voices for every character were perfect and so well done.

I’m definitely interested in listening to more of this series!

Excellent, Hilarious, and Intriguing

This book had me laughing so hard! The quirky cast of characters are so endearing and I loved the slow burn romance. It was at least halfway through before the intriguing glimpse that there is a paranormal element

Just WOW!!

I loved this book! Maggie M Lily is the best. I read this last year and was so impressed by the emotions you feel with the characters. I laughed, cried and loved this book. The audio book just brought it to life.

Good, then slow with whiney hero and heroine, then GREAT ending!

My daughter warned me that the middle was a bit tedious with people’s insecurities but promised that the magic and story picked up. She was right. The book ended with me rushing to download The next book in this series. She also said that Book 2 is REALLY great!

CLIFFHANGER!

But a great cliffhanger! Best book I've read/listened to in a long time. I have a daughter with c.p. her seizures started at age 8. I was so impressed the author wrote a book with the female lead having a disability. My daughters is much more severe but I loved the character in this book. The large family is great as well, I have 5 kids so I understand the craziness that comes with so many people at your house for dinner! I related to a lot of things in this book.
if you enjoy big family dinners and the chaos that comes with large families I promise you will like this story. if u need to laugh I guarantee you will have many opportunities with this story. the narrator also does a great job. stop wondering n get the book, you'll love it!

Surprising!

This set of books came up as a good match for me in Kindle Unlimited and since I was about to be a back seat passenger on a road trip - why not? As I started reading The Call bits and pieces of Maggie were familiar to me and I almost fell out of a moving truck when she disclosed her CP Dx. I have never run into someone with CP like mine much less read it in a book. She is such a character. She is why I kept reading and then I was hooked. So hooked that as soon as I had access to wifi I downloaded the same books into my audible so I could listen and read while rolling down the road. To Maggie M. Lilly - thank you for creating a character with CP that is a fully functioning adult with a rewarding job, love and a family. I have talked to many parents of CP kids that think that just because they have CP the are "crippled" for life and will have to be taken care of forever. We can have an education, careers, marriage and yes sometimes even children. As for the Trellis boys: Do I really need to say anything besides.... DAMN! :-)
