A diary, written in 1912 by a Lutheran pastor is discovered within a wall. What it unveils is a slow massacre, a chain of events that go back to 217 Blackfeet dead in the snow. Told in transcribed interviews by a Blackfeet named Good Stab, who shares the narrative of his peculiar life over a series of confessional visits. Compelling story

I like this author very much. I really liked the overall narrative arc. The details about how the main characters lived were interesting and their context was well developed. The violence seemed excessive and definitely gratuitous at times.

I always enjoy Stephen Graham Jones works. This is no exception. Highly recommend this if you enjoy horror fiction. It will not disappoint.

Brilliant Story and Haunting Narration

I just finished The Buffalo Hunter Hunter and I’m absolutely blown away. As someone who reads a lot of horror, I found the author’s take on vampires to be refreshingly original, unlike anything I’ve encountered before. The way historical fiction is woven seamlessly with horror adds so much depth to the story and it kept me hooked from start to finish.

The narration deserves just as much praise. The voice actors elevated the entire experience. Narrators can make or break an audiobook, and in this case, they completely nailed it. Their performances brought the characters and atmosphere to life in a powerful way.

Overall, this is an outstanding work of horror, and I’m seriously impressed. Hats off to Stephen Graham Jones for creating something truly memorable.

Goodstab unveiling the mystery of the Cat Man after his gruesome encounter will keep me up at night. My pipe is empty for sure after this thrilling journey through the backbone of a frightful America. A+ SGJ A+

Good book

I really liked it, the dialogue was confusing at times but to be expected. Not a huge fan of the ending but that’s just me. It was pretty predictable

A book where history is blended with the unknown

Wow! As a historian, I love historical fiction and this was a phenomenal book. It not only was rich in historical facts, it blended the unknown together that ended in a book that has earned a place on my bookshelf.
