My orders are simple. Capture her. Marry her. Take her inheritance. Get rid of her.

The bookish little recluse is worth more than she knows. She’s an unassuming librarian. I’m the brigadier of the Russian Bratva. She has no friends. I command a small army.

She’s a modest woman. And now she’s mine.

The lighter side of dark

I think this is a great starter book for anyone who’s been interested in reading a dark/taboo romance but is scared of some of the more intense troupes i.e. rape, abuse and incest. There are actually some pretty tender moments and it’s easy to root for this couple. I enjoyed the writing style and was entertained all the way through. There are some background story-lines I had some questions about but they may be explored further in other books in the series. It took me a minute to adjust to the narrators Russian accent but once I did I was fully invested. If you are like me and wondered what the heck Bratva is it is a like the Russian mafia. If you are into mafia romance, OTT alphas and dominance this is the book for you.

Fly me to Russia!

In the mood for a dark listen? A Russian accent? A beauty and a beast type tale? This one is the perfect listen. Jane Henry has written a fast paced, dark yet passionate story. Give me a Russian mafia, romantic suspense book and I am happy. Sadie and Kazimir's story is a slow burn, yet sexually charged. Kazimir, a Bratva enforcer, abducts meek librarian, Sadie with the intent of marrying her for her money. Sadie has no idea her past, and cannot understand why she has been whisked away to Russia and is being held captive. And being trained. And falling for her captor! Kazimir is an alpha male, always dominant and I just love him. From the first time I met him in the story, I was hoping for a rough exterior with a teddy bear heart. But you just never can tell with these men! Sadie who seemed timid turns out to have quite the spirit, but when it comes to Kazimir, will she submit? Not for those that don't enjoy some BDSM, spanking and erotic scenes, but I found it so well written, and passionate, I was completely captivated. This is Jane Henry's best book to date and I can't wait for the next one!

Choosing a narrator who can pull off a Russian accent is not the easiest thing to do, but Wen Ross was the perfect choice. His accent, his inflection and his delivery was so good, I could not stop listening. This is one of his best performances that I have listened to and look forward to his continuation of the series!

I always get tricked into these stories...

I have read or listened some good stories with this theme. This isn't one of them. I absolutely HATE when the girl has physical sexual feelings for her ruthless horrible captor before there is any goodness shown in him. She is abducted and treated like pure crap but willingly let him touch her the first night. I couldn't finish it, couldn't finish past chapter 3 or 4, I don't remember. So frustrating.

Dark Russian Romance!

This is a dark Russian mafia romance, in the Wicked Doms World. Sadie and Kashmir's story is intense, and emotional. They share an undeniable, hot, and strong D/s chemistry. Sadie, is a librarian, and Kashmir is a brigadier of the Russian Bratva. The story has some dark scenes, sometimes difficult to listen to. I haven't read a lot of dark romance, but Jane Henry never disappoints and gives us a well written dark story, with great characters, and a great storyline, well described and well developed. Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration. If you like dark romance, you should like this one.

Book 1 horrible, skip it and go to book 2!!!

This book is garbage but the second book 2 is amazing!! Go figure! I would skip this book and head to 2 from jump start! I read book 2 first by accident not knowing it was a series believe me you don’t need book 1 to enjoy book 2!! Happy reading/listening!

Wen did not disappoint!

This audible was hot, some violence, sexy, and everything you would hope a Russian/Bratva book to be. The storyline was realistic in the Bratva world anyway. Wen did an excellent job with both female and male voices. I hope this series continue with the other men in the Bratva and please do not change the narrator. Wen brought this audible alive! Great job J Henry.

Good and dark

This was a enjoyable listen, mainly because of Wen Ross, but the storyline is also good. The story lacked that little something (connection between the main characters perhaps) that makes it excellent.
* Characters are well described but as said before lacking something...
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings.
* Plenty of dialogues
* The storyline has a nice progression
It’s a dark story but still has elements of sweetness in it.
The ending is a little abrupt but it’s HEA so who cares 💜

Narrator is excellent, clear pronunciation and soothing voice.

Dark and wholesome!

This was such a dark and wholesome romance!

I absolutely loved this opposites attract, contemporary romance.

This isn't too dark but has just enough to make it taboo.

I loved Wen Ross's narration. It was smooth and flawless.

Great audio

How the mighty have fallen! You have to love such a hardened character to be brought to his knees by unexpected love. The overall concept and behind the scene dealings of the bratva was of course a bit disturbing but I liked how Kazimir changed through his relationship with Sadie. I really liked Sadie's character. She may have seemed like a simple inexperienced nuance of a young girl but she was strong, passionate and above all utterly kind.
The Bratva's Baby was a great story by Jane Henry.

Wen Ross did an astonishing job with this narration. The russian accent was spot on and I liked the voices he used for the female characters too. The quality of the recording was also spotless.

Bratva and the bookworm

Wen Ross has one of the sexiest voices ever. when I first started and I heard his female voice I was like 😑. I couldn't tell the difference from his male and female voice BUT and it's a huge BUT I continued to listen and my ears must have adjusted to his voice because it sounded good. So if this is the case for you try giving your ears a chance to modify because it's a great book. If you're like me and like a hot bearish man doling out spankings (in your books) this is going to make you very happy. If you don't get it anyway because it's a lot more than spankings

mixed feelings

this book should have come with a warning, it's very darkf and full of non consent acts of BDSM and sexual acts forced upon a kidnapped young woman who is a virgin and completely inexperienced. carried out by a man who abuses BDSM pain to control her, demanding her complete submission to the point of no free will over any aspect of her life. while confusing her with forced pleasure and pain and overwhelmes her emotionally. although some of these are elements and punishments a BDSM Dom gives a submissive, it's done with consent and not to condition someone to expect pain with their pleasure before they even have chance to work out what they do and don't like. ive listened to loads of books like this, many very Stockholm style but for some reason I found the first half of the book difficult, but if bratva men with few morals about how women are treated, cohesion, hostage/captive, mostly forced BDSM with the smallest amount of romance towards the end of the book is your thing, then this is for you.
on the positive Wen Ross did a fantastic job with the narration

Very Dark 🔥 Adults only

If you like a controlling man who tells you when you can sleep, eat, dress and speak then this is the story for you. I did struggle with this aspect but I knew it was dark and had to remind myself it was a work of fiction. Kazimir is in full control of everything and he’s not afraid to dish out punishment. I would have liked more of an ending and experienced the happy ending properly. It’s a good story.

The narrator did a really good job of capturing Karimir and bringing his character to life.

My Thoughts on Bratva's Baby

I really enjoyed this story. Jane Henry is really growing on me the more books of hers that I read. They're well written, always give me great characters and give me the ending I crave. The road to that ending might be dark and twisty at times but it's excellent all the same.

The narrator for this one is one of my favorites. Wen Ross just has an amazing voice. I always feel he preforms the story so well and gives exactly what it calls for at the time. The only thing I wished for during this audiobook was that Sadie's parts had a female narrator. I had no complaints about how Wen did, I just personally am partial to at least having dual narration if I can't have my favorite duet style.

I absolutely recommend this story.

Must Read

The Bratva’s Baby by Jane Henry is book one in the Wicked Doms Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Wen Ross.

This is the second book of Jane’s that I have read and look forward to reading to more of her books in the future. I enjoyed the fact that the book switched between Kazimir and Sadie’s point of view. I love when you can really dive into the characters head.

Wen did an amazing job on the narration. I absolutely loved his voice for Kazimir. I loved that he used different tones/accent for each character. It made it really easy to follow along with the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves BDSM, Alpha Males, Hostage, or Romance Books.

enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed this dark romance. Yes there are aspects that some may find triggering but on the whole was a fairly enjoyable listen. The narration may not be to avery ones liking, but I did not find it too bad.

AWESOME NARRATION

This took me a bit to get into, but once I did I loved it. This is a dark romance so you need to read this book with an open mind because it does cover some 'non-consensual' scenes, although later the scenes are repeated, but this time with mutual agreement. All that sounds really formal and informative so I'm going to tell you how I felt about it now. The romance in this book was awesome. I loved how this book brought forth the idea of love vs possession, as well as the balance of loyalty. The female protagonist in this does seem slightly weak, but she has got an inner strength and you have to remember while reading this that allowing someone to do something to your body, that you might not like, does not make you weak but instead allows you to become resilient. In this instance though, Sadie is found to end up liking her relationship between her and Kazimir. This book is more slow-burn than most books but the whole thing has a huge sexual charge throughout. I listened to this as an audiobook and loved the accent, it took a little bit to understand all the words but when I did I was so grateful that I chose this as an audiobook instead of having just read it. If you think this is for you, give it a go. I loved this book!

Sexy & Bittersweet

A sexy sweetly dark capture romance with a thick Russian accent. The end is a bit rushed, but otherwise the story flows nicely.
