The lighter side of dark

I think this is a great starter book for anyone who’s been interested in reading a dark/taboo romance but is scared of some of the more intense troupes i.e. rape, abuse and incest. There are actually some pretty tender moments and it’s easy to root for this couple. I enjoyed the writing style and was entertained all the way through. There are some background story-lines I had some questions about but they may be explored further in other books in the series. It took me a minute to adjust to the narrators Russian accent but once I did I was fully invested. If you are like me and wondered what the heck Bratva is it is a like the Russian mafia. If you are into mafia romance, OTT alphas and dominance this is the book for you.

Fly me to Russia!

In the mood for a dark listen? A Russian accent? A beauty and a beast type tale? This one is the perfect listen. Jane Henry has written a fast paced, dark yet passionate story. Give me a Russian mafia, romantic suspense book and I am happy. Sadie and Kazimir's story is a slow burn, yet sexually charged. Kazimir, a Bratva enforcer, abducts meek librarian, Sadie with the intent of marrying her for her money. Sadie has no idea her past, and cannot understand why she has been whisked away to Russia and is being held captive. And being trained. And falling for her captor! Kazimir is an alpha male, always dominant and I just love him. From the first time I met him in the story, I was hoping for a rough exterior with a teddy bear heart. But you just never can tell with these men! Sadie who seemed timid turns out to have quite the spirit, but when it comes to Kazimir, will she submit? Not for those that don't enjoy some BDSM, spanking and erotic scenes, but I found it so well written, and passionate, I was completely captivated. This is Jane Henry's best book to date and I can't wait for the next one!

Choosing a narrator who can pull off a Russian accent is not the easiest thing to do, but Wen Ross was the perfect choice. His accent, his inflection and his delivery was so good, I could not stop listening. This is one of his best performances that I have listened to and look forward to his continuation of the series!

Wen did not disappoint!

This audible was hot, some violence, sexy, and everything you would hope a Russian/Bratva book to be. The storyline was realistic in the Bratva world anyway. Wen did an excellent job with both female and male voices. I hope this series continue with the other men in the Bratva and please do not change the narrator. Wen brought this audible alive! Great job J Henry.

Good and dark

This was a enjoyable listen, mainly because of Wen Ross, but the storyline is also good. The story lacked that little something (connection between the main characters perhaps) that makes it excellent.
* Characters are well described but as said before lacking something...
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings.
* Plenty of dialogues
* The storyline has a nice progression
It’s a dark story but still has elements of sweetness in it.
The ending is a little abrupt but it’s HEA so who cares 💜

Narrator is excellent, clear pronunciation and soothing voice.

Dark Russian Romance!

This is a dark Russian mafia romance, in the Wicked Doms World. Sadie and Kashmir's story is intense, and emotional. They share an undeniable, hot, and strong D/s chemistry. Sadie, is a librarian, and Kashmir is a brigadier of the Russian Bratva. The story has some dark scenes, sometimes difficult to listen to. I haven't read a lot of dark romance, but Jane Henry never disappoints and gives us a well written dark story, with great characters, and a great storyline, well described and well developed. Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration. If you like dark romance, you should like this one.

A WICKEDLY SEXY DARK MAFIA LISTEN!

THE BRATVA’S BABY was bewitching. Wickedly Wanton. Edgy and raw. And so intoxicating I am still riding an euphoric high!

I swear Jane Henry ups her game with each new dark romance she pens, and I was transfixed by this enthralling mafia tale from page one. This book truly has all—torrid passion, exciting melodrama, adrenaline pumping suspense, and spine-tingling peril! As for the romance, OMG Sadie and Kazimir’s chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS! Their connection was immediate—and electrifying—and so tantalizingly kinky I panted my way through their sizzling erotic interludes!

Gah...talk about a SAVAGELY BEAUTIFUL anti-hero that gives you goosebumps! Kazimir Romanov, brigadier of the Bratva, is big, stern, predatory and oh so powerfully commanding. As the Bratva’s head enforcer, he is man to be obeyed and blood will be shed by anyone who dares to cross him. And I pity the poor soul who tries to harm Sadie, the lovely little librarian whom he’s claimed as his!

Except that’s where things get a tad complicated. Battle lines are drawn as Kazimir is torn between his fierce loyalty to his Bratva family, and his all-consuming feelings for the sweet, shy, achingly innocent captive who inflames his every wicked desire. When he first abducted Sadie, his plan was solidly in place: “Marry her, obtain her inheritance, then get rid of her.” But as hard as he tries to stay cold and detached and keep Sadie from infiltrating his steely defenses, her kind yet feisty disposition and eventual sweet supplication nearly brings him to his knees. He might be her captor but “krasotka,” wields more control over him than he could ever envision. And with time running out, and her pretty neck on the line, he will do ANYTHING to protect her.

I just ADORED the evolution of their romance as we got to bear witness to Sadie and Kazimir falling in love amid a backdrop of danger, violence, treachery and deception. And I especially loved how against all odds these two broken souls become whole again and open each other’s worlds to beautiful new possibilities.

Bottom line: I really cannot RAVE enough about THE BRATVA’S BABY! I was completely swept up into the dark, dangerous Bratva’s world Ms. Henry created, which sets the stage for future installments of Wicked Doms! My only slight surprise was in regard to how the Bratva plotline eventually unfolded. Once everything came to a head in the final chapters, I was expecting a deadly showdown between Dimitri and Kazimir, with Sadie caught in the bloody crossfire, but the author took a different tact which I will say still had me on the edge of my seat! Just in a slightly different way than I was anticipating. And while I would have enjoyed a slightly grittier climax, overall I was quite pleased with the resolution. Especially in regard to the SWOONY HEA, which made me gloriously happy!

NARRATION:
Wen Ross’s narration of Kazimir was hypnotizing!!! His deep, raspy, Russian brogue was SO SEDUCTIVELY SEXY, it melted my panties and made me quake with desire! He was perfectly cast as this dark, dangerous antihero and infused Kazimir with a perfect blend of rough-edged male dominance, breathtaking tenderness and fierce protectiveness. I loved how his voice could shift so seamlessly from a harsh growl to soft and soothing, depending on the mood of the scene, and he did an amazing job seguing into the Sadie role too!! Ultimately, Mr. Ross delivered a truly ASTOUNDING audio performance that gave me all the shivery feels!

Highly recommend!

Hot Russian meets meek librarian

Kazimir, a Russian mob enforcer, is sent to kidnap Sadie, a meek librarian. I like how the personalities of these characters are not what they first appear to be. Because of this, Kazimir and Sadie find themselves falling for each other. But will he be able to protect her and her child, or will he stay loyal to the mob. I loved the development of characters and plot in this book.

Wen Ross does an excellent job with his sexy Russian accent.

I received this Audible book in exchange for a review. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Great book

This is a dark romance so be wsrned thst it may have triggers in it for some peole

I reallly loved listening to this book. The Narrator did an amazing job. This is the story of a libraian who is missing. Sadie has no family and made the mistake of trusting the tall handsome man eho came into the library and started to strike up conversations. She has no idea he is an enforcer for the Russian mob and also keads his own small army. However he has gotten himself into a mess and owes a lot of money to the boss and Sadie is the answer to all his probelms. This book had me hooked from beginning to end I could sit and listen for hours. If you like dark books ypu will love this one

Wen Ross gives the perfect narration!

This story is your typical Russia mafia story, and while entertaining, it is fairly predictable. However, Wen Ross gives a perfect narration -- his Russian accent gives a realism to the story and the timbre of his voice is yummy. I found the storyline to be okay, but not particularly compelling, and felt that HEA was arrived at rather rushed, but Sadie and Kazimir got their HEA, so all's well that ends well <3. I'll gladly read future books by this author and will definitely seek out other narrations by Wen. I received this audio book at my request and I voluntarily wrote this review.

Wonderful

This was a great dark romance that really developed great story and characters of Sadie and Kashmir. They were able to bring the broken pieces of each other together and create something beautiful.
Wen Ross is a wonderful voice actor, this book might have done better with dual narration.

slow start has heat <br />

The story was ok. I thought Sadie was going to be more of a stronger character. She was slowly be romanced in America by the big Russian brute. Once we got to Russia, she became weak. I thought she would be more of a fighter against him. She falls in love with her abductor. She shows Kazimir how to love.
The narratoration by Wen Ross kept me in this book. He did an amzing job on the Russian. His voice made the book.

Great Narration🎧 Great Story! Dark & Intense🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Jane Henry pens another great story It is well written with interesting characters and storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. Kazimir, a badass Dom, is a member of The Bravta, the Russian mafia. He has a dark past and a hardened personality. He is on a mission in the US which is to capture Sadie, a quiet librarian, bring her back home and marry for her inheritance. Not all things go according to plans, Sadie is not his usual captive, behaves differently than others he had in the past. She starts to penetrate the walls around his heart and bring out his human side. There is great chemistry between the two, she is a natural submissive to his dominance. There is plenty of drama, some action, twists and hot D/s scenes. I loved the direction Jane Henry took their story, also love the ending. Thanks for another great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the talented Wen Ross. He performed the voices of all the characters, brought them to life and giving them much heart and attitude. Shout out on his Russian accents, he sounded awesome and so authentic. Thank you for another great and entertaining listen🎧

Captivating!

This wasn't a really dark romance, but it was a very good book. Kazimir could be ruthless and scary but he also had a kind and gentle side with Sadie. I found both of them to be likable characters. The story was interesting and moved along at a good pace. Wen Ross did an excellent job bringing this story to life, and I loved his Russian accent. I would recommend this book.

Bratva and the bookworm

Wen Ross has one of the sexiest voices ever. when I first started and I heard his female voice I was like 😑. I couldn't tell the difference from his male and female voice BUT and it's a huge BUT I continued to listen and my ears must have adjusted to his voice because it sounded good. So if this is the case for you try giving your ears a chance to modify because it's a great book. If you're like me and like a hot bearish man doling out spankings (in your books) this is going to make you very happy. If you don't get it anyway because it's a lot more than spankings

Intense, dark, sensual

Jane Henry’s superb writing mixed with Wen Ross’s beautiful narration made for a compelling listening experience. Before starting the reader needs to remember that this is a dark captive/non-consent story. I felt uncomfortable at times but the journey to HEA, especially the 2nd half of the story, and the beautiful ending made it all worth while.

Absolutely great and so alluring!!

This was such a refreshingly great story, the likes of which I had not read before. The male character oozes sex appeal and is a def alpha male and what he does is exciting and annoying all at the same time. Great narrator, beautiful accent. The female characer is so funny and says some amusing things but I love her fighting spirit. A must read!!! I will be checking out this author's other books. It was so well written, kept you hooked with every line!
