Publisher's summary

Horror is what Dan Law enjoys. He loves to read horror novels as a way to escape from his teaching job, from his loneliness, from the everyday dullness of life in Silver Lake. That’s what Dan lives for. When a new bookstore opens in town, every visitor receives a free book of their own. A book that tells their own personal story...a story they have to follow to the brutal end. As Silver Lake’s population descends into violent savagery, Dan finds he is no longer living for horror novels - he’s living inside one.

Good read

I really like the chaos created by the antagonist. I wish the author would have went into more depth with the antagonist back story. Or created more mystery in the character.
The author should have explained the origins of the language used while reading the book’s.
It’s a great story though.

good book!

this was a real good horror book that would put a big smile on Stephen King's face. it is very graphic so just giving a word of warning. I like this narrator, he does an excellent job. I've heard him read other books before and he's good.

a bit monotoned for murder porn

while the voices were good, the narration was monotone. story reminded me of Rick and Morty episode with devil selling cursed item. The Rick and Morty episode was better.

Mind blowing!

I love that this book took on the point of view of a teacher who loved to read horror, books. The plot moved along fast and it kept me entertained the entire book. There are a lot of characters and a lot of things going on at the same time, but it is a fun and easy read.

The premise of the story is that everyone who receives a book from the bookshop, has their own story included . no one else can read anyone’s book and if it’s read aloud, it’s not in a language that’s understandable some books in the story the reader is able to learn what they told the reader in the book. however others who receive a book from the bookshop we do not know, but can only guess what their book told them the bookshop owner is all knowing and thrives off of living out of horror
.

Nice read

I liked it but it seemed abit all over the place. You have to pay attention or youll lose who or what the author is talking about

Wonderfully creepy

This book is fabulously creepy. The “villain” in it is barely mentioned but that’s the way the author meant for this story to go. Give a person a match and see if they burn themselves alive or set the world on fire. Very entertaining, the voice actors performance was spot on. 10/10 would recommend!

Lots of classic references

Again Haynes takes a concept one might think corny and weaves it nicely into a really enjoyable story. If you like Ray Bradbury, particularly Something Wicked This Way Comes, you’ll really like this book.
