Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author Deepak Chopra states that within each of us is a book of mysteries waiting to be opened, and when it is, the secrets of the universe will be revealed to us. The secret of love is to be found nowhere but within us, along with the secrets of healing, compassion, and faith, and the most elusive secret of all: who we truly are.

We all want to know whom to choose as a partner, what job to take, how to teach our children well. This audiobook, a crystalline distillation of insights and wisdom accumulated over the lifetime of one of the great spiritual thinkers of our time, isolates 15 secrets, among them, "What You Seek You Already Know", "Life Hurts When It Is Unreal", and "There Is No Time But Now", that can open our eyes to truths that point the way to transformation and enlightenment.

even better than the abridged version!

i wrote an enthusiastic review about the abridged version of this book. the unabridged book provides lots more detail which makes understanding of the content much easier. the only disadvantage: you miss deepak's gentle voice, because the unabridged audio book is narrated by another speaker. but still: a good voice!

Not narrated by Deepak!

I enjoy Deepak's voice and wish that I would have paid closer attention before I bought this book. I can't follow more than 5 min with this narrator because he is so boring and lacking in personality. I'll pay more attention in the future, but if hearing Deepak narrate his own books is important to you, don't buy this one.

Deepak has excelled himself

I found the narrator was an excellent choice for coveying the power of this book. Deepak has a beautiful voice however sometimes its uniqueness can cause the listener to lose the focus on the powerful message of his work.
This book is a tool kit for a spiritual life and i have been making incredible strides since the first download.
There is no padding or gimmickery, just pure heartfelt spirit to spirit transfer of the truth.
Buy this book and you will be transformed.

Enlightening all the way through!

There is a ton of information packed into this book and all of it is wonderful to hear. Every section has something of interest and I was eager for more down to the last minute.

Hard to listen to...

I enjoyed the "content" of this book but it was really hard to listen to with reader's voice lacking passion for the information he was relating. The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire (read by Deepak) was fantastic, and I expected the same emotion with this book. Instead, I found myself looking forward to it being over. The secret I learned from the "Book of Secrets" is only by Deepak audiobooks read by the man himself.

above expectation

I appreciate this book . I also own the hardcopy, but prefer the spoken word in this case, also because it is narrated by a person whose first language is English. The information is extremey worthwile, and I enjoy reading the book in addition to listening the audio version. I highly recomend this title; I find it the best of all his books.

WOW! What A Book!

I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I have. Don't we all love the "Aha!" moment when suddenly something we've always wanted to know, or hear, or (insert your own word here) suddenly pops up, as it can only really do in an audio book. And there were several of these experiencers for me, and I've been around, and around again, philosophy, religion, history, etc..
This book is a favorite for me, now, by a favorite author, and I wish I was rich enough to buy a copy for everybody in America, I'm that sure that nearly everyone would get something valuable out of it, as long as they listened carefully, and perhaps listened again. Everytime I listen I catch new, exciting things that somehow get by me the time before. This is a surprising, hard to categorize book, a gift of love, surely, from Deepak to his fans and to the world.

Painfully Bad

I've made a habit of reading Depak Chopras work to better understand how people can believe his brand of pseudoscientific bunk. This new edition strikes me as both the least credible (and given prior junk that says something), but also the least interesting. I would say that Mr. Chopra is running out of ideas, because this book, more than all those that came before it is just a rehashing of old mindless bunk. Mr. Chopra may be a charlatan, but in the past he at least has been more original in his particular brand of snake oil, I'd say that even fans of his work will find this work dissapointing.

Great inspiration...!

This is a good book. My only critique is the Narrator just plows through the chapters as if the book were one giant paragraph.

Uninspiring

This book is not read by Deepak Chopra and the narrator lacks Chopra's charm and enthusiasm. I find my mind drifting after 5 minutes of listening because the narrator is completly unengaging and frankly the content seems far more superficial from what I expected from Deepak Chopra.

Force for good in the world

Would you consider the audio edition of The Book of Secrets to be better than the print version?

I appreciated having the book read but would have liked to listen to the author as he has such a lovely voice. I would also consider having a print version to underline important points.

What did you like best about this story?

It is challenging and inspiring. Lots of new things to learn and try for myself.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

All of it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No because it needs to be assimilated in small chunks as there is so much to take in.

Any additional comments?

If everyone who reads Deepak Chopra puts his suggestions into practice the world will be a better place.

A MUST for anyone on a spiritual journey

Any additional comments?

Deepak Chopra is one of the most fascinating spiritual teachers I have ever come across. If you are I a sporitual journey then Deepak Chopra should be high up on your reading list. He covers a vast range of topics and rarely repeats himself in this book or any of his others here on audible meaning you never get bored of listening to his wisdom. Although it gets quite deep in places it's fine if you listen to it in several parts. If you are going to start with just one of his books then start with this one it's by far the best of many of his fascinating reads!
