Matt Murphy is truly incredible. He has dedicated his life and given up so much to put the bad guys away. His story is intriguing and unbelievable. The real life stories about murderers can’t be made up- horror stories. Thank goodness for people like Matt.

First of all, it’s Matt Murphy. What’s not to like? Matt’s stories are great to listen to and he is truly one of the best humans. You will be captivated for the entire audio book. So glad this is narrated by Matt himself - his buttery smooth voice only makes it that much better. The only reason you could possibly have to stop listening is because you don’t want it to end. Nice work, Matt Murphy!

The Book of Murder

I had developed a great respect for Matt Murphy as a prosecutor after learning about the horrific and haunting murders the Hawks. I knew he had other notorious cases that he won and was thrilled to learn he decided to write a book about his experiences as a prosecutor.
This book isn’t just about his time as a prosecutor. He also mixes in some of his personal life and how he prioritized work over a social life.
That Matt Murphy does the narration adds to the book greatly. There is no false inflection in his voice at any time. He is revealing exactly how he experienced some horrific examples of other people’s inhumanity along with a deep compassion for the victim’s loved ones. His retelling is genuine.
The cases he reviewed are all ones I was familiar with to varying degrees but hearing his perspective of each was like hearing it all fresh. I found it hard to pause the audio book as the stories being told are captivating.
Matt Murphy’s book is a fantastic listen and I truly hope he does a second book!

New perspective on true crime

I am a lover of all things true crime. This book was a great look at the prosecution side of the equation. All the things that go into a successful case. Changes the way you analyze crime. Matt is an amazing storyteller and I truly hope this isn’t his only book that he writes.
