An intriguing story with a clumsy ending

This is a remarkable story with many exciting twists and turns in the various plots. The author had me completely enthralled and intrigued for the first three-fourths of the book.

I won't spoil the ending for you, but I will say that it didn't quite fit. The story of love against all odds, spirituality, human triumph, devastating pain, grief and loss all came down to a minor detail which by comparison boiled down to a trivial difference of opinion. The ending simply didn't fit with the rest of the story. I was disappointed.

Awful!

This book was so condescending and sickly sweet. The characters were too saintly and “perfect” and lacked depth. Disliked Darryl, whose constant praise and admiration of his wife, kids, work ethic and himself made me want to barf. Also didn’t like the constant religious references. Narrations were also awful, particularly the one for the author. Couldn’t finish the book - and that’s rare for me...

Made my skin crawl

Awful, it’s a shame that such a good story was spoilt by creepy Darryl who believed he was so wonderful , poor Maxine. The book is overly mushy and condescending
