Publisher's Summary

In The Bible Is a Catholic Book, Jimmy Akin shows how the Bible cannot exist apart from the church. In its origins and its formulation, in the truths it contains, in its careful preservation over the centuries, and in the prayerful study and elucidation of its mysteries, Scripture is inseparable from Catholicism. This is fitting, since both come from God for our salvation.

If you're a Catholic who sometimes gets intimidated by the Bible, The Bible Is a Catholic Book will help you better understand and take pride in this gift that God gave the world through the church. We are the original Bible Christians!

And even non-Catholics will appreciate the clear and charitable way that Jimmy explains how the early church gave us the Bible and how the church to this day reveres and obeys it.

Beautifully explained as only Jimmy Akin can do.<br />

Much more than a history of the bible and its development. A logical, factual and charitable explanation of the above but a good place for non Catholics to start if you want to understand the Church view and definition of sacred Tradition, Holy Scripture and how it works together to transmit the Christian message.

Must Read

An excellent book for anyone interested in learning about the history of Biblical development. Mr Akin narrates the book himself making it that much more enjoyable to listen to. This is definitely a resource I will frequently be handing out to others.

Excellent!!! Must read

I started this book thinking I had a fair amount of knowledge on this subject and I was blown away with all that I learned. Showing the customs and logistics with a historical narrative of how the Bible came to be from Genesis to revelations what books made the cut and how and why.

I enjoy when authors narrate their own books but not all authors are actually good readers , but Jimmy akin does a most excellent job in presenting the information in a clear , concise and entertaining way I read this book over 2 days and I was bummed when it was over.

I will be listening again!!

Excellent, and well-read by the author

In rare cases do I appreciate the author reading the book, because great writers don't end up being very good readers, but this was an exception. The history of the Bible and its formation was very intriguing, and the final chapter in which the notion of Sola Scriptura is addressed is very well written and makes some very compelling reading. Recommended.
