Publisher's summary

Across the length and breadth of the galaxy, humankind celebrates its salvation and relishes the prospect of a return to peace. But the war against the orks has driven the political bedrock of the Imperium, exposing its rotten core.

One man, one powerful man, decides he has the solution and launches a campaign of destruction so terrible that thousands of years later his actions will still be viewed with horror.

an epilogue spread into an entire book.

If it stood alone, the 12 books of the beast arises would be quite a vision of a dark and imaginative future. Book 12 can not stand alone. its an epilogue of the preceding 11 and brings closure to many threads, often in a very poetic way. There's minimal action and even less fun. Its like the hobbits adventure at the end of Lord of the Rings. By itself, its a decent distraction little better than a comic book. Yet when you cast it with its 11 kin, the beast arises stands above warhammer 40k, shoulders over the Horus Heresy and is probably one of the best sci-fantasy adventures written this century.

Finally. Glad to be done with the series.

Overall the War of the Beast series is a slog. they could have done the whole thing in 2 or 3 full length novels and youd walk away the same. i stuck it out through all 12, but just save the time and go read a lexicanum or warhammer wiki article on it and save yourself the time.

There are just times where I even tuned out the books and missed like 15 minutes of action and still i feel like I missed nothing.

Almost Epic

I really enjoyed the conclusion to this series, but this entry suffered from the same issue I feel the whole series was trapped in - they're all too short. For a sweeping, galaxy-wide conflict, what's actually presented feels more than slightly truncated. This isn't to say that the book wasn't great - it was. Just needed to be more of it. Narration was amazing, as always.

Better than I thought.

After the events of the last book, I assumed that this book almost had no reason to exist, and yet, after listening through it in one sitting, I found a neat story that I didn't expect. The narrator is fantastic, inserting tons of character into his performance. A fantastic performance.

A finale worthy of the emperor.

My favorite chapter of the beast arises. Fans of the lore must read this one.

Pretty good closing to the series!

It connected all the loose ends and put the Imperium on the road to recovery.
