I really enjoyed the development of the relationships between the characters.

She is a very engaging story teller.

There wasn't a particular moment, but I liked the overall development of the plot.

really enjoyed this book as much as the first one. had a lot of action and adventure for our young group.

Super cute YA series!

I'm in my 30s but LOVE YA paranormal books. My 13 year old niece and I share many books, and this is a Trilogy I can't wait to share with her.
Funny and heartfelt, the characters are mostly believable and grow on you quickly.
After finishing all 3 books I will say that I was disappointed to find out that Kelley Armstrong is not writing any more of these books, as it was meant to be only a trilogy. Several story lines are all tied up sweetly, but there are several others left hanging. A few things were never explained, even though they were mentioned and hinted at several times throughout the books. Still, cute books with minimal foul language (actually I can't remember if any bad words were used!) I also don't think there was any underage drinking, any drugs, and no sex! Perfect books for the young paranormal story lovers!

I followed the entire series and enjoyed the relationships between the characters. The author really kept me hooked

LOVE, LOVE. LOVE IT!!!

I found the reader VERY fresh, fun and a pleasure to listen to. As for the book; It was so suspenseful that that I found myself up at 3am to download book two in this series to hear what happens next to these group of Supernaturals Teens!. I am a kid a heart but I really think that this series, like many series crosses that line and is for anyone who wants to listen to a GREAT STORY...I definitely found myself relating to the characters very much - 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!

Being young and overcoming darkness

This is the second book in an excellent series of coming of age novels. The three major characters in this book are learning to deal with things more difficult than first love and how to ace an algebra exam. These teenagers have been genetically altered to enhance certain paranormal gifts, and they were lied to. Teenagers want to be like everyone else. These kids are having to deal with more than growth spurts and spots. So if you can see ghosts, and ghosts can see you, do you admit it? Seeing things that are not there and admitting it can lead to institutions. So all of these children who have been enhanced, have different gifts and varying levels of the same "gift" finally come to a special school run by the people who enhanced them.

Putting them in a special school seemed to be an excellent way of monitoring all of the teens as they come into their talents. However, the kids are smart. They talk to each other, and some of them run. This book takes up the story of where they ran to, and the way they deal with their relationships to each other, to the adults they feel they can or cannot trust is fascinating. I agree with a previous reviewer that the narrator sounds closer to five than fifteen, but it is not very distracting, and it is helpful to be reminded that the characters are very young.

I enjoyed the first book in the Darkest Powers series very much, and this one is very good too. It is rare that an author can maintain tension without making the main characters "too stupid to live", or adding thunder bolts from on high to save them from tight corners. So the story is both fascinating and satisfying and comes to a firm resolution, although there is more to the story. I am so aggravated by B movie cliff hangers that I usually will not follow a series that uses them. The books in this group are very good as a series and individually.

Just a Bit of Fun

Okay - if you're looking for something shocking, new, utterly unique, and edgy - don't bother. This is just fun. Low on surprises or unexpected plot twists. But if you enjoyed the first book you'll like this one too. I, personally, have taking a great liking to the characters and am looking forward to the next instalment in the series. These books are escapism at it's best. A bit silly maybe, but almost more enjoyable for that.

Don't look for the raw sexuality of Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, even if these do take place in the same world. This one is for a younger audience. But she still manages to do what I feel she does best - interesting characters and a fun world. And 'good guys' who aren't necessarily nice, but are all the more interesting for it.

The reader isn't too bad. She's the same one that read the first one and when I first began listening to that one - having been given the book as a gift - I rolled my eyes and was ready to turn in off in less than five minutes, convinced I'd never be able to stand her. But I got used to her surprisingly fast and I think that she does a good job of giving character to the characters and the feel of a teenage girl to Chloe voice. So, don't be put off by her little girl quality - she does a good job and I hope they'll have her read the next one when it's out.
