Forever a classic.

I will never tire of “The Art SPIRIT”. The narration is done perfectly and allows me to feel the words as I did when I first read this some years ago.

As an artist, I am a perpetual beginner and student but itʻs easy to get lost in monotny so reading this every so often is a refreshing reminder.

For the first time reader, open your mind, find a comfortable chair, get out that favorite sketchbook and sharpened pencils and enjoy. You may even want to jot down a few things because I promise, this timeless book will offer up countless and very useful ideas as well as guidance.

Think like an artist

This is just one way of looking at being an artist, but it's a very important way, I think. Henri was a founding member of the "Ashcan" movement in art. It's a realism based painting method that focuses on painting the essence of the subject, painting what's important to the subject, what makes the subject matter. I think it's a great way to disconnect from the details. He also has some important ideas about how to handle backgrounds. It's more "the jist" of art, not a how to. I enjoyed it. I listened to it about 4 times.

Essential listening for creative people!

This book is nothing less than a spiritual treatise on Art, and will remain a cherished member of my creative library. Also, the narrator is amazingly perfect for this book. He has wisdom in his voice. I don't know what Robert Henri sounded like, but I kept forgetting that I wasn't actually listening to Henri himself!
