Life changing for me

I learned about creativity at age 35. My husband is an excellent wildlife artist/sculpturist. I won't go into all the methods, medias I have tried. I'm now 69 and your book has opened my heart and mind to truly trust MY journey. I use pastels and air dry clay at this time. I look forward to my journey.

I cried during this book

This book moved me to my core. I don’t feel this way about a lot of abstract art. Most abstract art looks like something an elephant can do with his trunk by accident holding a marker near a canvas. She is more moving with words and writing than visual art. Not all abstract art is meaningful and not all realistic art is just meaningless copying, because some artists go into a realm of not thinking and only feeling while creating their art even if it is not totally abstract. But I digress, her book is beautiful and I love it. ❤️I will apply so much of this influential book in my art practice and art meditation.

Very Inspiring

Returning to art after many years away, I found myself wondering what the point of it was and how to make it more fulfilling. Nancy's deep, thought provoking theories and effective exercises help guide the reader to a deeper understanding of creativity and, ultimately, who we are as artists.

A sweet journey!

The Artist's Journey inspired me, comforted me, and had me looking at the many areas of creativity in my life. I love her references to classical literature throughout (timeless) and the multiple "how to" exercises offered. While I am not a painter, I feel that I would like to try and follow along with Nancy's suggestions. So glad I listened to this!

Plagiarized?

This book seems to be taken directly from Steven Pressfield’s The Artist Journey, and his other book The War of Art. Both of Pressfield’s books were written years before this one by Nancy Hills.

Too touchy-feely, too many adjectives, too slow, and a big snoozer overall - zzzzzz. Should have retained a professional narrator.
