Publisher's summary

This is my autobiography. It's not a novel; it's my life story where I want to motivate and influence others. It shows lots of emotion, both highs and lows, how to succeed - it shows how I turned 37p into 100 million pounds. I have dyslexia and ADHD which is highlighted as you listen to the book. Due to this I often get sidetracked and have to go back to the original part of the story; again, this is highlighted. I also use some unsavory words, not in a malicious way merely showing my frustrations when not everything goes my way. The book took me just over three years to finish.

a real look into entrepreneurship

fantastic book, he jumps around a lot so you have to really pay attention. but really was a great and emotional deep dive into what it's like to be a rags-to-riches entrepreneur.

I still don’t get it

I spent a few hours reading this before initially giving up. Beyond someone who clearly has a work ethic to beat anyone else’s, I didn’t find much else in it. I re-read the reviews and gave it another go as I had a long journey so time to kill and still no real negative comments of any kind.

The book is humorous in places and is inspirational for someone who has achieved so much but little to take away in terms of practical application, other than a few examples of how best to make the most of your money. As a management or customer related text (which I had hoped it would be), there was very little.

Sorry to be the outlier here. If you have lots of time on your hands and want a story of rags to riches, then this may be for you. But if you want an audiobook to learn practical steps of business devt, I’d look elsewhere.

My New Favourite Book!

A frank, unflinching & honest account of what it takes to build a market leading independent business from scratch. A masterclass in both sales and marketing from Neville, full of common sense, contrarian investment gems and razor sharp business acumen. A rollercoaster ride with amazing achievements and truly dark times also.

Neville is a genuine national treasure and this book is a blueprint in how to succeed, not just in business but in life.

More story than guidance

First of all credit where it's due for creating a multimillion pound business over time. This is more a biography than a guide to creating wealth. I think we all know that with hard work and determination we can create it. Not taking away the impressive work put in here, but as usual with these books it helped MASSIVELY to start buying/selling/renting from the house prices in the 70s 80s & 90s.
Felt I'd learnt more about his life rather than HOW to actually do something.
Another annoyance is the constant "side tracked" "back" parts, there's no need as the book flows well without them.
In all I'd say good, impressive, but sadly disappointed

Inspirational

What an incredible journey this lovely family have been on, it just shows how passion and belief and a genuine feeling to want to help others can bring happiness and wealth to everyone. loved this book, and if Neville happens to read these reviews then I would like to ask, how much do you want for that old unused piece of scrim? 😊

THE GOLDEN GOOSE!

Listened to this audiobook around 5 or 6 times now!

Usually whilst setting up a new property or driving to jobs in the car.

In many ways it reminds me of how we are now and struggling at times but knowing one day we'll get to a comfortable.

I love how Neville wasnt scared to go back to go forward again. Not scared to take risks and love how he explained that his 'Golden goose' (Kiddycare) is the thing that will feed them and that will create the profit to then put into other avenues.

Its really inspired me every time i listen to it and its made me realise that my main business is very important and i must concentrate on it so we can also create the golden goose.

So many cool ideas and things i will be putting into action and i also love how Neville was up for trying new things all the time which gave him lots of sucess.

Would be great to share a beer with you one day Neville!

A great insight into the life of an Entrepreneur

very inspiring account of an entrepreneur's journey. A real rags to riches story, with plenty lessons and nuggets of information littered throughout.

would certainly recommend.

A great insight to what is required in business

A great listen about the challenges faced by a family business. The most memorable extract from the book was when Neville and Marolin sold the business and how they felt about not belonging to kiddicare, the feeling of not been wanted or having any cause. It was great to see them continue to do great things in property, something I personally aim to achieve once I have enough capital. A great journey by a family which strive for the best in themselves and others.
