Publisher's summary

L.A. Banks, Tananarive Due, and Brandon Massey are three of the hottest names in suspense fiction. In this collection of flesh-crawling tales, each author contributes one deliciously twisted selection. A writer unearths dangerous truths in backwoods Mississippi and a man's sanity - and life - are threatened by disturbing visions. Then, in the third and final tale, two children are forced to face off against terrifying ancestors.

It was a good listen .

I was interested in this book due to Tananarive Due being one of the authors.
I've read a few of her books and I really enjoyed them. this compilation was okay. The narrator's if each story was just 'okay'.
Each stories ending left something to be desiree.. for me that is. I did enjoy the story of "The Patriarch" because of Patriarch, a Black Vampire. I believe that Our Ancestors are always here to protect and watch over us. Hence drew my interest to thus book. 3 Stars just for that.

Ms.Due stole the show

the first story was very slow and i wish the climax was actually written instead of the reader having to assume. The second story was pretty good but the last one really kept my interest and the ending was a sad recollection but loved the story

I love all the stories.

All the stories were very good and wellwritten. The only thing is I wish the stories were longer. But I would definitely listen to these stories again.

Ancestors

The ghost stories that you don't mind listening to because there's a kind of justice at the end. The first one I think I loved the best because I wonder is that what the people on the streets that has a mental illness really be thinking about 🤔

3 Black Supernatural stories by 3 authors.

Would you listen to The Ancestors again? Why?

I enjoyed all 3 stories. The first ended abruptly but it was a good story, I just wanted more. Black history integers me, then through in some supernatural and I'm hooked. Narration in all 3 stories was fantastic.

Tananarive Due saves it

The first two stories we're ok.. the 2nd better than the first. I would have abandon this audible if it wasn't for the knowledge that I would be gifted with a story by Due. She didn't disappoint, the story and performance were awesome, Robin Miles is fantastic and engaging . . I give Due and Miles a solid 5 stars.. The others a 3 star.

Not what I expected

Would you recommend The Ancestors to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not - I listened to The Good House by Tananarive Due and loved it so I thought these 3 short stories would be similar. They were not. I think they would have been better as full stories/books.

2 out of 3 Ain’t Bad

I absolutely LOTHED the first story and the narrator. I need to find out the author and the narrator so that I NEVER listen to them again. The story felt like a very long and unnecessary run on sentence. The author sound as if he went through the dictionary searching for long and “academic” words when a simple one could have did the trick- and much better I might add. The only reason I finished the story is because it was selected as a bookclub read.
.... okay okay enough about that. Book two and three were fairly good with book 3 being my favorite as it seemed complete. Book two felt like there could be more but it had an ending. Book one... yeah well you know how I feel about that one. Hate I paid for the book but not the worst book I’ve ever read.
