Publisher's Summary

A dominant alpha. A tempting human. An impossible attraction.

After one loser boyfriend too many, Melissa Bell swore she was done with bad boys, but when her ex puts her life in danger it is a buff, tattooed, dirty-talking alpha shifter who shows up to save her. More disturbing still, her rescuer makes it clear that he regards Melissa's safety as his personal responsibly, and defying his instructions soon earns her an embarrassing spanking. Though she should be furious, her body's reaction to the tough, handsome wolf's stern dominance demands more.

It doesn't take long for Cody to wish he'd never made an alpha's promise to protect Melissa, yet for some reason he can barely control himself around her. His inner wolf craves the beautiful human in spite of her snobbish attitude and constant sass, and when she is writhing over his knee, it is all he can do not to mark her and mate her right then and there.

Each moment he spends with the alluring, feisty girl only increases his hunger for her, but Cody promised himself long ago that he would never take a human as his mate. Will his pride push Melissa away forever, just when he realizes he can't live without her?

Publisher's note: The Alpha's Promise is a standalone book set in the same world as The Alpha's Hunger. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Damn.

I got this book in the afternoon and ended up finishing it in one night.
It's seriously HOT. I've been through my fair share of erotic romance novels with fantasy themes but none have had the amount of character chemistry that this one had. I hadn't read the first book but saw that it was good as a stand-alone so I figured it was okay to get and it was so worth it. You really don't need to read the first book at all. The world is simple and confidently established enough to be believable to the reader. Although sometimes the bickering was a bit dramatic as a way to push the story along the characters personalities are believable.
The narrator was one I've heard before and the reason I found the book in the first place. Her style of narration is PERFECTION and her character dialog is distinct yet not pushing it. She's not reading like you would a child but TELLING the story. She gives certain tones and dialects that sound more natural than a lot of narrators I've listened to. Twas a pleasure.

Such a potential for great instead of good!

Oh how I wish....
There was more than two books, in this series.

That this book would have had more content after the H/h were mated.

That this book let us experience how the Alpha handled presenting his new mate to the pack.

That the book would have had the conflict between the Alpha and his father, resolved; since it influenced a majority of the plot, in this book.

That the author would put in a little more time and effort and double the length of her books; making them great instead of pretty good.

All that being said, since this book was included in the romance package, I was willing to risk my time, in hopes of enjoying the book, Which I did, mostly. Is it worth a credit? Not really, it was too short and not worth the price of a credit. However, it’s a worthy Romance package listen.

Just No!

This narrator was irritating. Sometimes her inflections were in the wrong place. She read to slow for effect but it only sounded over exaggerating. The main female character was an embecil. She was insulted, spanked molested and almost raped but her p**sy clinched for this alpha male for no reason all within a few hours of knowing him. I could not suspend belief enough to finish this.

Excellent plot twist.

The Alpha's Promise is well written with a little twist of won't see coming. This book has everything bad guys, sexy shifters, love and hot and I do mean 🔥 steamy sexy. Worth the money if you like the above combination.

wonderful series

Melissa is Ashley's twin from book one. Ben asks Cody to watch over her while he is gone. Cody doesn't want anything to do with humans, but he does it. Their chemistry is all encompassing.

He promises to protect her with his life.

This story does have a large dose of erotica and punishment.

Sierra Kline has a languorous way of narrating the story that at times feels like a slow rendition but overall has an enjoyable relaxing effect to the storytelling.

Melissa is just trying to get by, working hard to get a foot in as a real estate agent; she still works as a bartender on the weekends to make ends meet. When her loser as ex-boyfriend rips off the wrong people and they leave threatening messages in her apartment her first thought is to call her sister and her brother-in-law.

Cody Steele is the young Alpha of a small pack, he works hard and looks out for his own. However, when Ben Stone calls him asking for a favor he gets drawn in by the Beautiful real estate agent that is the human sister-in-law of another Alpha.

With misjudgment and assumptions running rampant between them along with an overdose of attraction these two struggle with their feelings for each other and about themselves. Cody's struggle with inadequacy and Melissa's fear of ending up with another loser bad boy boyfriend pull these two apart. Only if they can learn to forgive and trust again will they be able to be together.

Good Not Great

I picked this up, after reading the reviews, as a stand alone even though it was book 2. It worked fine as a stand alone. It was a good story. I really liked the hero - Cody. I have a thing for shifter romances/alpha males and Cody fits the mold pretty well. The tension between hour H/h was decent but felt forced in places. I found a few problems with the storyline here and there but if you're looking for a decent story for a few hours of fun then this book fits the bill. Worth the credit.
