Fun, lighthearted summer romance

wanted to like this a little more than I did, but I enjoyed it. It was a little bit too insta love and occasionally corny for my personal tastes. These women know each other for 6 days. I just… will never believe in someone falling In Love properly in that amount of time. I just won’t. Sure, bonding in short bursts absolutely happens. It happened to me while I studied abroad in college, we latched onto each other and our friendships grew faster than they might have otherwise, but… IN LOVE, to the point of PUBLIC DECLARATIONS, my old nemesis, had me side/eyeing hard.

That said, I enjoyed the characters, and watching Garland come into her herself was nice. The lighthearted summer camp story was fun and the narrator was wonderful.

Super cute, queer summer romance

Fun, sweet and full of nostalgia. I want to go to adult summer camp — especially one as welcoming and diverse as camp Carl cove!

Fun Sweet Romance

It was fun & silly at times, HEEHAW!! I enjoyed the book. An adult summer camp made it different from other books. Ms. Jeremy C Parker did a fantastic narration.

Newly out

After 48 years being married and divorced three times I finally found my soulmate! I relate so much with Garland. My goal was never to be in a relationship with a woman, but when I met my best friend, I’ve realized that I couldn’t imagine my life without her in it. Friendship eventually led to love and I found myself realizing part of myself I’ve never seen before. This book captured all of the feelings that I felt before I came out so well that I feel like I could’ve written it myself! The narration was done beautifully with each character’s voice being recognizable, even though it was the same voice actor, reading all the parts.

Adult Summer Camp Vibes...

I will admit that this is rather insta-love but I adored it. It gave me all of the summer-time camp romance vibes that I was looking for when I picked this up. It was a sweet summery sapphic romance. Garland Moore's people-pleasing hit home with me and I recognized some of her traits in myself.

All this being said, I do wish that there was a little more a of progression from friendship to romance. Insta-love, while it can be fun, isn't my favorite. Also, both Garland and Stevie read younger than they were meant to be.

Overall, this was a sweet and super cheesy insta-love summer camp romance that was a great palate cleanser.

This was cute and I liked it.

I like that Garland was 32 years old and just discovering that she was Queer. Everyone doesn't know it right away and the concept that all Queers figure it out by high school or college is not true. There are some of us that are still learning new things about ourselves every day, every week, every month, every year. I enjoyed her story of discovery.

Sad it’s over

Loved this. It was so sweet and stevie and garland are a favorite book couple now.

Overall it was decent

I enjoyed the story and the characters, although ironically the MC was probably my least favorite of them. Much of the inner monologueing by the MC felt very long winded and redundant, especially towards the end. There was a lack of external obstacles which made the climax feel less rewarding. A singular mystical element felt very out of place and I feel weakened the story. I almost left it behind in my DNF pile a couple times but was invested enough I eventually kept coming back until I finished it.
