Texas Heat

This book is just as cute and fluffy as the first two books in the series. Such a great and ongoing Happily Ever After Romance between the two main characters Jack and Riley.

This book also gives us and extra little side story for some new minor characters as well. Robbie and Eli. I'm glad that the story line is expanding and I think introducing us to these new characters was a fantastic idea and addition. Both Robbie and Eli haven't had an easy time of things in the past. They both deserve their HEA as well. And they are forming their relationship in the good company of Jack and Riley and the Double D Ranch.

I love these books. I mean really how could anyone NOT Love them...

Sean Crisden once again and not surprisingly did an amazing job with this audio book and all of these characters. I really enjoyed listening to and reading this book just as much as the first two in the series. CUTE and FLUFFY for sure!!

Still Brilliant

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.

As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.

If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.

Texas Heat - cowboys, gay rodeo and a new romance

This is the third story in the soap opera styled series set in and around the Double D ranch. The story continues for Riley and Jack, but two new main characters arrive on the scene and this instalment features the blossoming of Robbie and Eli’s romance. Both men have a tragic story to tell. Of course, they’re attracted to each other, but Robbie is reluctant to start a new relationship because of his past and because he intends to move on. Eli pursues Robbie while arranging an underwear photoshoot at the ranch. Pity he didn't get Jack and Riley to pose with the other models!

Riley and Jack are still smoking hot together and managing to keep their sex life active. The story highlights the now established couple's way of life and their scenes together are entertaining. There’s some angst and conflict for these guys. Riley has to deal with a business issue that could ruin his standing in the ethical oil exploration world. Meeting an old flame of Jack’s at a local gay rodeo causes some minor jealousy and leads to a bar brawl that sort of just fizzles out. Nothing major, but Riley and Jack's characters shine through the events.

There’s a mix of storylines here, told from the four main points of view, and other family members pop up here and there. Although enjoyable, the story felt like an introduction to the next story in the series.

Sean Crisden continues to narrate, with the added challenge of Robbie’s Australian accent. I could picture every scene and each character clearly as I listened to his voice.

Love this series

It’s a real love story with exciting twists and turns. Each series builds well on the previous stout and has me hooked. I find myself listening and giggling or out right laughter as the story continues. It has everything that makes a good book or a damn good movie!

Thank you RJ Scott!

Solid story, story couples

Honestly, I don’t enjoy the narrator Sean Crisden’s work in this series. His voice makes the characters sound like early twenties and not like the men I picture in my head. Thankful, the writing and plot remains very solid so I enjoy the story because Jack and Riley love was a gift that touched all those around them. Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes are settling into family life with their daughter Hayley and extended family. The Double D Ranch is growing and Riley is trying to expand their oil exploration endeavors. The main couple is still crazy about each other and then of course, we get a blast from Riley’s wild past in the form of a man named Eli. Eli was a photographer who was trying to land a solid gig and wanted to use the ranch for his photoshoot.

While Eli is taking pictures, he meets one of the ranch hands Robbie, who came to the Double D to heal from a past of abuse. For the first time in this series, the reader is taken on a journey to coupledom featuring people not bearing the Hayes or Campbell last names. From Jack’s sister Eden and her boyfriend Sean to Riley’s mom getting married to her vet fiancée, it just feels like Jack and Riley’s relationship balanced the people around them. It is clear that they still are trying to find ways to make time for romance and putting their relationship first, but as a couple, they still make me smile. I’m thankful that the author doesn’t make them have those unnecessary relationship miscommunications and issues. Jack and Riley are the reason I love this series but I am looking forward to finding out what’s wrong with Eden’s boyfriend and having them back on solid ground.

Texas Heat

Texas Heat is the third book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. This series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

Nothing is simple in the lives of Jack and Riley and in this third book, that constant remains. I love each of these books and experiencing the family being built. Jack and Riley’s love and life is strong. In this book, you get to see them stand as a couple even more than the others. They’ve become more comfortable as a family of three and have grown into their father positions.

In this book, we get the addition of Robbie and Eli. Robbie is hired to work on the farm with Jack and Eli is an old college friend of Riley’s. This book not only focuses on Jack and Riley, but also Robbie and Eli. They both have their own hardships to overcome, but with a loving relationship like Jack and Riley around, both men are able to work through their history to find a life together. Though the soap opera drama in this book is less than the first, there is still plenty of drama.

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has an enjoyable voice, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.
